Help! looking for laundry products with no limonene or linalool

spababe · 04/11/2013 15:03

My son has been tested allergic to Limonene and Linalool and it's in an awful lot of products. It seems to be giving him eczema. I have found a hand wash, shower gel and shampoo but now I am looking at laundry products. Often these ingredients are simply listed as perfume and I have just phoned Persil to find it IS in Persil non bio and Comfort Pure. Does anyone know of laundry products that are free of these ingredients?
thanks!

Perhaps look at Surcare it is made without perfumes or dyes. It is the only washing powder my DGM can use on her extremely sensitive skin.

for handwash we are using Carex sensitive
for shower gel Sanex junior
for Shampoo we are using Simple

I have found that 'perfume' listed in ingredients can often turnout to be Linalool or Limonene

I'm allergic to limonene and linalol and it's a blooming nightmare!

I have been using fairy non bio tablets and ecover zero fabric softener successfully- you are right spababe that perfume is often one of these chemicals, so totally unperfumed is the best approach

Good luck

I am allergic to a lot of ingredients, fragrances, citrus, limonene, thiazolinone, nickel, chrome, and more. the only laundry I can use with a fragrance is Aldi Almat non-bio dermatologically tested, the best non allergenic washing machine product with French consumer association. I had 60% of my body with eczema and now just some occasional contact eczema. If this one is not good for you the only one is Simplewashing pure eco smart washing, online delivery free. Do not spend a lot of money buying organic products, too much fragrance and most of them have limonene or do not clean correctly.

For information the following fragrance materials must be listed in QIs by law: benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, benzyl salicylate, citral, citronellal, coumarin, eugenol, geraniol, hydroxycitronellal, limonene and linalool.

Hi Diagnosed 5 years ago , Not an easy one to live with !
Start with this , Detergent, Soap nuts !
To wash with use Castile soap (unscented)
If your in a hard water area don't use a dish washer ! the residue remains on the dishes , don't use washing up liquid , don't use shampoo or conditioner , the smell is the problem ,
And the worst one to deal with is a lot of foods have Linalool in them , especially Cinnamon , The way to check is to type the food name and Linalool together and read the feed back ,
The detergent and soap will make life 70% better the rest will take time !
Good luck

Splosh might be worth a try? Can't see any of your problem ingredients on their lists, but you might want to email to make sure. Their stuff works well and even their bio stuff is fine for my kids who have sensitive skin/mild eczema but no diagnosed skin allergies.

Hi
Does anyone know of any dishwasher tablets that are limonene free?

Report
Zeitgei5t · 14/06/2017 06:20

Can't advise on brands but we make our own dishwasher tablets - it's quite easy.
2 parts washing soda
2 parts Borax free equivalent
1 part salt
1 part citric acid
Mix and put into an ice cube tray to harden. Ingredients are available online.

I discovered over 30 years ago that I too am allergic to Lanolin but it has so many names it is hard to keep up. As a precaution I read the ingredients on everything. For this length of time I've used only Bold washing powder. Non Bio powders should not contain it in any way. Sanex shower gel is my steadfast. Pantene shampoo, I have always moisturised with Boots Aftersun but my latest purchase has Limonene in it! Not good! There is a new product called Children's Farm, pure ingredients only, adults are praising it for eczema and psoriasis. It sells out of Boots quickly so no luck so far.

Percy and Reed hair products are great, expensive but good offers on QVC. I really suffer and find these don't irritate me at all. Use sparingly, which also offsets the cost.

No good. Splosh contains Linalool. Been using Ariel and been fine but looked on the box after a flare up and see it has Linalool in it. I'm sure it didn't used to :(
