Allergic to my own house

I wake up at night sniffing ( snorting ) and rubbing my eyes. It worsens when the hearing goes on. I've not slept beyond 5am for... goodness knows how long. Seemed to get worse when hay fever season stopped.
I'm miserable with it now. My eyes hurt. I'm still taking cetyrizene and an now taking eye drops and eye baths. Went to optician yesterday who said it is possibly dust mites. He said that once hearing is on, they juggle around a bit. ( or something) which would make sense with getting worse at heating-on time.
My room is a bit cluttered but it's clean.
Could it be my mattress? It's just over 10 years old. I'd buy a new one if I thought that was it. It's quite squishy n my back hurts anyway. Sorry to moan.

My DH was allergic to our house when we first moved in. It turned out to be the carpet in our bedroom, it was just so dirty and dusty. We ended up just replacing it because it was horrible anyway. Cleared up his allergy immediately. It could easily be your mattress.... Do you have another room you could sleep in and see if it's as bad?

Good idea. I'll try that. Why didn't I think of sleeping in another room. Brilliant. How did u know that it was the carpet, by the way?

He has asthma and allergies anyway so we cleaned as much as we could, there was dust everywhere and the only thing left was the carpets. After we replaced them he was literally fine from the next day, so we didn't know it was them until afterwards but we know for sure now!

How fantastic ! Last night I put my air purifier next to my bed (face). Was a bit noisy but I slept better than usual.

I have this too! It sucks! I think it's dust mites and have been trying to keep bedroom cleaner, air it a lot and wash hedding more but it's hard to keep on top of it, especially when I'm not sure how much difference it makes
