Allergies and intolerances

Does this sound like lactose/CMP intolerance?

DD is nearly 10mo and still ebf. She has always been a difficult sleeper but I noticed that she slept much worse if I gave her any milk products. So I totally cut out milk/cheese etc (she is fine with eggs) and then:

Last week I tried her on lactose free milk (in cereal) and lactose-free cream cheese. She had a few slightly worse than normal nights but then one good night sleeping, which confused me.

On Tuesday this week I gave her some cheese and yoghurt. She slept ok that night. Continueds giving cheese and yoghurt and had terrible nights Weds and Thurs - up every half an hour.

I'm finding it all very confusing, and its difficult to know what is just conincidence when she has a bad night. She is absolutely fine during the day, happy, nappies normal, skin fine etc.

I would like to replace her daytime breastfeeds with formula but don't know whether I need lactose free, soya, or something else? Is it all just trial-and-error or is there a test she can take eg skin prick? Or is that just for allergies not intolerances?

Sorry have so many questions and am seeing the GP this afternoon so want to be able to arm myself with some information/advice first!

Thank you joyful, maybe if I cut out dairy and soya from my diet she will miraculously sleep through then??!!

What are the options for formula that is CMP and soya-free?

PS it is still likely even though she has no symptoms other than sleeping badly? She was windy as a baby but I had bfeeding thrush that was v hard to get rid of so I put it down to that. She isn't windy any more.

That's why I'm really confused, eating dairy seems to mean she sleeps really badly but as she has no other symptoms can it just be lots of conincidences or can dairy intolerance present like this? Will ask GP but don't have much hope of good information based on past experience. MNers are much more helpful!

Not really expecting hEr to sleep through but every half hour is torture!

Have you considered that she might have silent reflux? This could explain the symptoms at night but not as noticeable during the day. The link to dairy could come in here as up to 50% of reflux babies have cmpi.

My dc3 (9 months) has silent reflux as well as dairy and soy allergies. He and I have been free of both for 6 months now.

It sounds to me as though your dd may have a slightly delayed reaction to dairy which may present as silent reflux (disturbed nights). I may be way off but worth considering?

PS - how is she on a bad night? Just waking a lot? My ds, for example, wakes at least 2-hourly if I have ingested the tiniest amount of dairy or soy, struggles to feed (pulling away and arching his back), wriggles and writhes in discomfort and generally displays very colicky symptoms. Hates lying down flat (common in reflux babies) after a feed, etc.

Any of that familiar?
