Bamba snacks???

CasaBevron · 19/04/2012 17:04

I called into Sainsburys today to restock on Bamba snacks only to be told that our branch no longer stocks them, and that they couldn't find any other store with stocks of them either. It looks as though as a company they have decided not to carry them any more Sad

Does anyone know of anywhere else that I can get hold of them, either in stores or by mail order? I am up north so I don't have as many options as I might do around London etc.

Of course, we can always make do with peanut butter for ds, but he doesn't really like toast very much and he will hoover up the Bamba snacks happily! Such a shame if we can no longer find them...

TIA

Where up North. I could tell you loads of places in Leeds and Manchester.

Mcr is closest. I was worried i'd never be able to get hold of them again. I bet they're sold everywhere aren't they? Blush

Sorry about not replying for couple of days. Not been online. Basically if you go into any Jewish/Kosher shop in Manchester they will almost undoubtedly sell them - there isn't a kosher shop in Leeds that doesn't stock them. If you have any Kosher/Jewish shops closer to where you are (if you feel comfortable telling me where you are I can probably be more exact) then just try there.

Good luck! (Have you tried the ones filled with hazelnut spread? mmmmmmm :) )

CasaBevron · 22/04/2012 11:14

Thanks! Can't do the hazelnut sadly as ds is allergic to cashews - we are giving him the peanut Bambas to try to maintain his tolerance.

Might it be worth trying to contact the manager of your Sainsburys (or Sainsburys in general via the website) to see if they'll consider restocking them?

CokeFan, the girl on customer services was really helpful and said she would pass on my comments but yes i might contact them myself as well. Will let you know if i get a reply!

This kosher shop in Manchester delivers nationwide and I assume they sell Bamba titanics.co.uk/

Hi CasaBevron, I've enquired in Sainsburys too - was in a panic when my local one stop stocking them (my DD1 won't eat any other peanut based goods). However, have since discovered Waitrose/Ocado sell Roasted Peanut Puffs by Ellert in 140g bags (so not as handy). All my DC seem to enjoy them (I don't think they are as nice though).

Shall we start a "bring back Bamba" campaign?!

medjool thanks i'll take a look at that.

londonmum good idea! I'll be outside my local Sainsbo's with a placard first thing in the morning Grin Mind you, I don't usually need much of an excuse to visit Waitrose so I can't really complain should I be forced to go...Thanks for the tip.

Just back quickly to say I couldn't find Bamba snacks on that website, Medjool. Thanks anyway Smile

Right. Have emailed Sainsburys asking to bring them back. I expect it was a pointless exercise but makes me feel slightly better.

Let me know if you can't source the roasted peanut puffs and I'll send you some

londonmum that's really kind of you, thanks. I have been looking at kosher food delivery co's on the internet but it usually costs about a tenner for a few bags of Bamba so it looks as though i need to get out and about on the hunt for peanut snacks! Do I remember rightly that your dd is allergic to tree nuts? Has she always been okay with these new snacks?

I worry about cross-contamintion. Also with peanut butter

Yes she's allergic to tree nuts (specifically cashews, pistachios and macadamias but we avoid all). She has been absolutely fine with the Ellert ones but was paranoid about cross contamination too. They have a "may contain" warning for gluten, lactose and milk but no other nuts. She's allergic to milk too but has been fine - so far, famous last words!

Have you tried monkey nuts? I think I might get some - she would enjoy shelling them anyway...

I looked at buying in bulk online too but postage silly - glad I'm not the only one, DH thinks I have become rather obsessive about sourcing them. So desperate for her not to become sensitised to peanut.

Thanks medjool - am I being stupid but I can't actually see anyway to buy them.. they don't seem to have a "quantity" option..

medjool · 23/04/2012 21:40

No you're not being stupid - I can't either! Try giving them a call.

Have you tried Tesco? Generally they only stock within their kosher aisles, i.e. in supermarkets within reach of Jewish communities, but they have bountiful supplies...

I have tried EVERY major supermarket. I honestly became slightly obsessed with the things. Once I found the Waitrose alternatives my obsession diminished somewhat. This thread has fired me up again damn you CasaBevron

I've got a Jewish friend in North London sending me some but will look for a stockist somewhere local. Honestly, the lengths I go to for DD1...

Just resurrecting this old thread to say that Sainsbury's appear to be stocking Bamba snacks again. Hooray!!

I was in one of their stores today, and they have both small and large packs, the large being two for £1.50 at the moment. This was a massive 'flagship'-type store, so I don't know if they'd have them everywhere, but worth a look if anyone needs them. Needless to say, if the apocalypse were to happen tomorrow, we now have enough to keep us going for a month or two!
