Allergies and intolerances

DC1 with multiple allergies, pregnant again, what can I eat?

DS has multiple allergies, neither DH or I have any allergies and there is no other family history of them.

Just found out I am pregnant again. I am wondering do I omit eating nuts in this pregnancy? I ate nuts when pregnant with DS.

Wondered if anyone has been in a similar position?

Yes, I could find nothing documented that was recent either.

I am more than happy to not eat nuts, but obviously don't want to increase the risk of
Allergies through lack of exposure.

It's a minefield!

I was in this position, DS has multiple allergies. the advice I was given by the allergy consultant was just to eat normally, don't avoid anything apart from the standard advice given in pregnancy.

DD has fewer allergies than DS, dont think that's to do with anything I did or didn't eat though.

I was in the same position. In my second pregnancy I ate nuts and I added pro-biotics to my diet - everyday. one of those little bottes you drink. There was a danish study that came out saying how this could prevent. My daughter has NO allergies - is there a link - who knows. And I decided there could be no harm in having the daily pro-biotic. Good luck!

Many congratulations on your pregnancy.

In my second pregnancy was advised by our specialist to eat as usual and specifically to eat peanuts. I also drank probiotics.
Dd2 is allergic to cows milk and eggs and not peanuts.
Dd2 is allergic to eggs (lightly cooked- can tolerate it baked) and has outgrown allergies to pineapple and lentils.

We have been told we were just unlucky. I'm not sure there is any definitive advice on this,

I drank probiotics in my second pregnancy. DD is less allergic than DS. I very much doubt that the probiotics are the reason for that, but it can't hurt to take them.

Congratulations!

I am in the same position, DD has lots of allergies and I'm 15 weeks pregnant. My DD is part of the EAT study, a lead on trial from the LEAP study. I've been told to actively eat peanuts and other allergenic foods, and I think from what others have said above I'll try the probiotics too.

Good luck with it all. I know I really worry about DD/DS2 having allergies because it's so stressful with DD1, I've had to use her epipen twice in the last 2 months. Let's hope both our second babies are less allergic.

Thank you all for your replies.

The probiotic drink issue is really interesting. Worth giving it a go, certainly cannot harm.

Thanks again.

Me too.

I was told the same as everyone else here, eat normally, and found the advice / research available not conclusive.

My daughter did turn out to be allergic too, but not to the extent my son was. I hadn't heard of the probiotic drink thing though, so didn't have those, in my case.
