Salicylates and breastfeeding

I'm not sure how much I buy a lot of this food intolerance stuff but for various reasons I'm starting to wonder whether the salicylates in my diet could be affecting my DD via my breastmilk.

Just wondering whether anyone has any experiences to share?

what makes you think this may be the case?

I thought I'd cracked it by block feeding but she's still having bad days. I'm already eliminating dairy. The bad days seem to correlate with days when my diet has contained high salicylate foods. I need to keep a proper diary I think.

The symptoms in her are disrupted sleep and hyperalertness even though the discomfort she was in has been eased by reducing my supply a little.

ok... how old is she?

i can't say i know a huge amount about salicylate sensitivity, but it seems to be in an awful lot of food!

i mean, there are a lot of reasons why a baby may have disrupted sleep, i think you'd have to keep a very very diligent food diary to be able to link anything to it...

She's 8 weeks. Looking back, the worst days recently involved me eating loads of tomato and basil soup, raisins, vast amounts of a heavily spiced cake (I made it myself to stave off dairy craving!), wine and oranges. All of which are apparently high in salicylates.

But so many things contain them I agree it's a huge grey area. It does appear that my diet is particularly high though.

hmm yeh could be linked then. i guess i would cut down as much as possible and then reintroduce and see if a reaction happens?
thats what we did with ds2 to confirm his intolerances

Yeah, that's the plan. I'm sure she'll outgrow all this soon enough but that's not soon enough when she's miserable and exhausted! Thanks :)
