Jumping over from another thread I have going in Chat... Been signposted here.

My OP from chat is as below:

I will drink at any chance I get.

Regularly will have 2 bottles of wine with husband in one sitting. He buys 1 and I will know he's getting one and buy another.

I won't consider anything less than 13%

I actually found myself at the weekend, when being offered a courtesy drink by someone, considering whether i needed to go out again.

My husband has called me out on it when I said I might go out for wine with a friend in the week. I agreed this weekend that we would only drink at the weekend and limit it to 1 bottle of wine between us.

"So I just sit back and watch you turn into an alcoholic? Because that's what you're doing"

This is the sucker punch. Right there. And asking whether it is right for our DS' future.

I feel fucking awful. Its there. Black and white what my husband thinks ad feels.

What the fuck do I do?

Sorry OP I've replied to your other thread.

There are some really good videos on YouTube about stopping drinking and Hello Sunday Morning is a really good site.

Hi OP

I'm with you. Good "sober" books are:

This naked mind
Girl walks out of a bar
Alcohol explained
Unexpected joy of being sober

Also .. it's only YOU that can determine if you have a problem.

10 years experience of 12 steppers (AA, NA etc) here.

If drinking is costing you more than money then test the sober waters

It's NOT how much we drink, it's the behaviour around our drinking that determines the problem

Good luck OP, everyone deserves a a life outside of the grip of alcohol

Fucking god awful stuff if it grips you Thanks

Inbox is right. It’s not the number of units or what time of day you drink. It’s about your thoughts and feelings about alcohol.
What support do you want? Professional or family? Practical or emotional?

@Wolfiefan I thuink just knowing I am not alone and that how I feel and am behaving actually isn't abnormal.

But drinking like that isn’t “normal” or healthy. Confused

@Wolfiefan absolutely! I may have in the past had had 2 drinks but my entire thinking, behaviour and all round "acting" around those 2 drinks, 100% NOT NORMAL!

I can tell you now OP the only buying 13% is a red flag.

I wish you the best
