Hello

I understand there’s no fixed answer on this and our SW is the best person to ask but keen to hear experiences of others.

We’ve been told some very basic details about a child but they are limited as they do not yet have a placement order. The case is coming up over the next few weeks.

We have said we are interested to move forward on the basis of what we know and so is the child’s social worker. So we have a meeting with our SW and the child’s SW and the family finder the week after their court dates.

Based on where we are, based on your experiences can you 1. Share what bumps you think there may be on the road (I’m thinking court delays) 2. How long realistically, if all does work out, it may be for this point to the point of potential placement

I would like to be able to get a bit excited that there is the potential this could be our placement but am obviously also being very cautious of feeling that way!

Thanks

I wouldn't get too excited at all until there is a placement order and you can find out full details.
A placement order could not happen for all sorts of reasons.
There may well be a 'blocker' in the detailed info. For example the health reports may flag something, they may have birth family in tiny village where your parents live, the background maybe something you can't cope with, or whatever.

(We had 4 near misses. Once we changed our mind after the weekend as it didn't 'feel' right & timing was rubbish, once a family member came forward, and twice they went with the 'other' couple.)

Or it could go swimmingly. Best of luck. Flowers
