We were at a friends bbq today with lots of people we didn't know. The usual 'have you got kids' question was asked frequently. Now, in the past this question has broken my heart and I've struggled with how to answer it. This time we smiled brightly and said 'no but we will in 4 weeks'.....while drinking a big glass of fizz. Cue confused faces and shocked looks, totally priceless! Of course we explained we are adopting and it was fantastic to actually be able to tell people and talk about it at last. So happy to be nearly there!

Congratulations!
How old? Boy or girl?
Tips for the coming weeks.
Go out every night, get really drunk,
Stay in a nice hotel on a spa weekend.
Eat in a nice restaurant.
Have a big lay in.
Drink hot tea.
Go shopping for you.
Get a good haircut.
Have a pedicure.
Sit in your house alone.
These are all the things I missed when lo came along. I’m over it now but enjoy your final weeks.
A wonderful wonderful change is coming but enjoy this time.
Xx

Thank you Alljam. I'll absolutely loving your tips. I've got a couple of them ticked off but I'm going to get to work on the rest of them forthwith. We're adopting a sibling group of 3 LOs, 4, 5 and 6 years old. A huge change is coming, we can't wait!

So pleased for you! Adopted or birth children you’ll wonder what’s hit you for the first few months but it’ll be great. Flowers

Thanks Ted, I'm guessing we'll need to try and bank a significant amount of sleep, and it'll still not be enough Smile

Oh many congratulations - our DC cane to us nearly a year ago, two aged 4 and 6. And you have another one thrown in for good measure.

Really enjoy the peace, quiet and space you have just now. My abiding memory of those early weeks will be the absolute shell shock of caring for two tiny, terrified, grieving little people while having no idea what to do. It passes but those early weeks are very hard, enjoy your time preparing for their arrival but do some lovely things for yourself too.

Thank you llangennith, I'm pretty certain we won't know what's hit us but we can't wait to find out.😁

Thank you Jellycat, I get pretty emotional thinking about these 3 little people and how scared and confused they are going to be, I know we'll get through it but i may be back here often looking for words of wisdom and a hand hold.
