How to start? Agency or LA in London

Hi there. I am about to start the process and from what I've read it seems advisable to "research various agencies". This doesn't seem an easy thing to do as noone online is able to review agencies. I live in East London and so far i understand that I should adopt from another borough to avoid bumping into the child's birth family. One friend has said she went with a LA and highly recommend them as they approved her as a single adopter pretty quickly and were supportive. But sadly it seems they had a much smaller selection of children. Abother friend used an agency and had a massive choice across the country. I don't know who to call first and would love a recommendation from mums who have had positive experiences with one of the myriad agencies in London. Also i am already 46 and don't think im interested in a baby. Older siblings would interest me and I think i could offer them a lot of love but i imagine it would be challenging especially as a single adopter. Anyone with similar experience? Thanks
