Hello ladies,

I am currently attempting to adopt a family member's baby and have a home visit in a few days! I am so nervous as I don't have a spare room and so when baby stops sleeping in a cot would be sharing with my biological child. Wondered if anyone else had managed to adopt without a spare room?

Thanks in advance.

We had a spare room when adopting but it was under different circumstances. They are usually very keen to keep family together so may well be happy for them to share. Plenty of siblings outside adoption share!

If they support the match otherwise, they may be willing for the child to share, but you will need to say you can move if the children need their own space as they grow.

If there is anyone who doesn't support the match, be prepared they may use the lack of spare room as an excuse.

Sorry for the late reply! They seem very keen at the moment .... I live 5 hours from where the social worker dealing with it is and they are making the effort to come here so 🤞
