What is a hague convention adoption certificate?

And when should we have received it? Apparently we need one to get the passport?

I assume it's an adoption certificate from a country that is hague compliant and was from the moment you applied to adopt.

If your adoption is UK domestic then it's your UK normal adoption certificate.

If you adopted from a non-hague country then you have to apply to readopt in the UK

Thanks Kew. We adopted in the UK so I am assuming it is the certificate we were issued at the celebration hearing.

ah yes if your's is a domestic adoption just the normal adoption certificate (long form) will be the one.

Probably you were only issued the short form very. You need to apply to the GRO for the long certificate to apply for passports. Quite quick and pain free, costs around £10 or £15 IIRC.

Can phone direct too Southport (where all certificates are issued) Quote Adoption certificate number. Will issue what you require.

We weren't actually given anything! We received a letter last week saying we can order either a short or a long birth certificate. WE have ordered one of each.
Thanks everyone.
