Applying for birth/adoption certificate post celebration hearing

Can someone help me work out how to get DC's certificate(s) now we have had the celebration hearing?

The judge gave us a very basic sort of home made 'certificate' which I assumed was not anything official (along with a teddy). I assumed something would come in the post soon after, telling us how to apply for the long certificate (which we will need for passports etc).

However, another mum who has adopted told me today that we can immediately apply online, providing we have the piece of card the judge gave us?

Could someone confirm which is right? And if we can apply online, whereabouts? (Have spent ages browsing, but cant find anything helpful).

If you do have to wait for something in the post, how long does it take? How much does it cost? Hearing was this week.

SW is away so cant ask her.

Thanks in advance.

Don't panic different LAs do different things. Ours sent the short form certificate within 2 weeks by post with info on how to buy the long version. I think it was £9 - i got 2, one for best and 1 to fold up for sending off for passports, preschool etc
