I didn't know about this. My DD is a huge fan - from Charlie & Lola to Ruby Redfort and, as we adopted her from China, it will be of interest to her. Thought I'd share in case any other adoptees are fans

My children are from Russia so I love hearing about foreign adoption stories. I can really empathise with her account if the long flight and the lovely immigration staff at the airport. No one said anything to us about DS or DD ( 2 different adoptions) during all our travels until we arrived in Dublin and the immigration staff made a huge fuss of us.
Also our DD was the same age as Tuesday and we had some of the same experiences.

Chocolate - I think it was a couple of years ago but I just found out about it and thought I'd share.

Gabsdot - we had the opposite experience - people in China made a huge fuss of us and DD and we had plenty of unsolicited parenting advice in Beijing

That's interesting as she's written a book called 'the New Small Person' which I've used to prepare my son for us adopting a younger child. It doesn't mention adoption specifically but there are no pregnancy illustrations as in most 'you're going to be a big brother' type books, the new baby is just suddenly there. I thought it was nicely ambiguous and wondered if it was done with adoption in mind- now I know that it probably was!

Ah- I've now read the article and see it's promoting 'the new small person'. I'd really recommend it though- for anyone having a second child either BC or AC :-)

DS was born in a town on the north Eastern border of Kazakhstan which is less than 300 miles from Mongolia!

Funny - we had an ICA "picnic" today which actually made it onto the Embassy's facebook page!

Googled and see you mean the CACH picnic We're not members but I hope you enjoy it. We might join as DD is now 10 and might enjoy meeting fellow adoptees - we don't know any.

Yup, CACH picnic. We go to the annual reunion too and, not CACH but still brilliant, Chinese Summer School in East Sussex - highly recommend them all!
