Does anyone know if the date on matching certificate is that of panel or of date of ADM decision? MP on Tuesday so naturally over thinking every aspect! The date could seriously affect my adoption leave pay! Know there's no changing it but good to know! Thanks

I think it's the decision date. But hopefully someone can be100% sure only because I've questioned what date I need to put too. X

No, mine had start date of introductions. The main point of the certificate is for your adoption leave from my understanding.

It is meant to be from the date of matching panel if intros are planned for soon after

I thought it was the date that the decision was ratified following the panel...

On the matching certificate, two dates are specified, the date that you are notified of the match (i.e. matching panel date) and the expected date that the child will be placed. I am looking at a copy of ours at the minute!

My understanding is that the matching certificate is primarily intended for employers for adoption leave purposes (full title is Matching Certificate: Statutory Adoption Leave and Pay) In my case I used annual leave to cover the introductions and my adoption leave started on the date of placement. As you are supposed to inform an employer of what's happening within a certain timeframe, both dates are important to them.

Thanks, yeah it's for working out pay that I wanted to know! Hopefully the many many hours of overtime will increase adoption leave pay then! Can't wait till I'm looking at my matching certificate! Xx

If I remember rightly, the statutory pay / leave element starts from the day intros begin, the date of which should be on your matching certificate.

Ooh I hope not odyssey else it's less than if it were at matching! Not that it matters in big scheme if things but the more pennies the easier it is! I guess I'll find out soon, matching panel Tuesday, hopefully I'll get a yes!

I stand slightly corrected. It has nothing to do with the matching or ratification date. It can be anywhere up to 14 days before placement (i.e. the day they come home at the end of introductions). This is because most introductions last one to two weeks. I think. I would say I am 99% sure.

I work for the NHS, I've just checked the adoption leave policy that I am under, and it states,
"Adoption leave can start from the date of a child's placement (whether this is earlier or later than expected) or from a fixed date which can be up to 14 days before the expected date of placement".
Therefore, I guess, the placement start date is the important date (for the employer) on the matching certificate.

Thanks madge, I'm nhs too but our place is just rewriting it's guidelines to incorporate the new changes, hence why I'm uncertain. It says you can start leave two weeks before placement but pay tell me they work out pay from the Saturday before matching certificate! I'm just trying to distract myself from the fact I've 48 hours till panel!

Hi Statutory adoption pay is calculated based on you matching date not placement. You can work HMRC date for calculating income and sap here; www.gov.uk/maternity-paternity-calculator/

(If this doesn't work type 'Adoption pay calculator' in to google)

I hope this helps.

Thanks, HR finally sent me the introductions on how they work it out including unsociable hours and overtime etc.. It has so many instructions I'm surprised it doesn't include spin round on one foot and jump into the air! But I finally get it!

Hi All,

Does the matching certifiicate come to the adopter or agency?? We were matched at panel on 14th Oct but have not received anything yet.

We start intros next Tuesday.

Our certificate had two dates - the dates of ADM and the date that the certificate was signed a couple of days later.

And our social worker emailed us a scanned copy so we could provide it to work
