Hi there my husband and I are in the process of being to approved to adopt through a local authority. We have been asked to find local coffee mornings, play or support groups in this area with other families who have adopted. This is so that when we are matched our child or children will have the opportunity to associate with other adopted children and so we can get advise and support from other parents who have adopted. Plus hopefully later be able to give it to :-). I'm finding it hard to find a local group and wondered if anyone knows of one in West / Central London?. Thanks in advance and sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place.

What is the best way to found out about support groups in local areas? Through this site or is there any other way? We were hoping to find one in the North East of England

Buster the LA may run one themselves or Adoption UK has a list which you are sent if you join them. We have recently joined (currently going through assessment) and find their magazines topical and useful too.

I've heard there is a great one in Wandsworth Kiwi and I think there is one in Wimbledon. I think you need to join Adoption UK though to access them as Choccy suggests

Hi thanks for the all the ideas. I'm Hammersmith/ Fulham area. I'm on adoption uk and waiting for the coordinator to contact me but think they do not have west London one but wandsworth would be the closest I've heard of. LA don't have one but we have connected with a few other locally who are going through assessment with us. We go to panel around April/ may. Very excited but keen to get a net work and some contacts so all help and ideas are really appreciated!!!

Also thanks for the PM's I have the social worker due for home study but well definitely be responding. :-)
