B M I Buddy?

Anyone want to be my B M I buddy?

I am trying to lose weight as (well insert 100 reasons) but also because social worker is keen for mty BMI to be lower.

Anyone else in a similar situation want to share tips and encouragement?

I really do not need to know the calories in a salad or how to substitute low fat yoghurt for cream! I do need someone to encourage me, tell me I am doing well if I am, and for me to do likewise for them?

If you are that person you can PM me or you can post here.

certainly don't want to know your weight or BMI in this public forum but happy to talk via pm and just encourage each other!

Today's encouragement for me is I had the chance of a cream tea scone and turned it down!!

Best wishes to all (I am a newbi not yet an adopter about to go to panel).

I'll join you! Also post adoption but really want to shift a few stone!!!

My first step starts today....no more booze and crisps Sad

Also plan on doing something physical with DS every day, like chasing him round the park or a decent walk.

Can't really afford SW at the minute but still have all my books so will be sticking with what I previously knew for the best part.

I've set myself a target of a stone by end of August with a cheat day built in for our celebration hearing Grin

What do you have planned?

MintyLizzy9 wow, thank you for joining me.

So I have an eating disorder of sorts or at the very least disordered eating and when I get stressed I just eat and eat. I am no sufficiently motivated to go and search for take aways at midnight so it is just snack foods etc. I need to make sure we only have healthy snack foods in the house (or things for the kids that I do not like).

I need to find a good alternative to chocolates and crisps and biscuits as these are my evil trident of temptation! Any top tips, please tell me.

How much is fair to try and lose per month?

I vaguely remember a friends mum in the 80's getting her jaw wired so she could only 'eat' liquid.....off to google Grin

I am not sure I could handle having my jaw wired!

Welcome GodMother78. Can you both remind me of some basic info on you, whatever you are willing to share? Can PM me if you prefer.

I am 50ish, very overweight, have overeaten for half my life, having had OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) from teens to twenties. Currently having counselling for eating disorder. Eating very triggered by stress, boredom and occasionally by anger.

I've got a four pronged attack REASON for loosing weight for my four pronged fork of temptation (I said trident because I could only think of three things I eat a lot of) but there's a fourth prong - sweets, forgot them!

My four pronged attack REASON for loosing weight is:

I want my body to be healthy because I want to live as long as I can and as healthily as I can
I must get control of my eating for my own sanity!
I want to model healthy eating for my kids
I feel myself getting older and older and over eating is making me feel old!

Well I'm 38 I put on most of my weight at university and have struggled to loose it ever since. I also have fibroids that seem to like messing with my hormones constantly plus due to a very bad infection both of my tubes are blocked. Wanting to adopt has given me the kick up the backside I needed to make me take loosing weight seriously. Also am tired of constantly being tired and not being able to things.

I'm 37 and have been overweight since childhood. Was at my heaviest a couple of years ago, shifted a few stone in order to adopt. Can't bring myself to get back in the scales as I fear just how much I have put back on! My BMI was late 30's at my last weigh in a few months back.

My son is 2 and has an awful diet. All seem to think it's a control thing for him but he went from a varied diet when weaned (so I'm told) to being VERY fussy now, basically only eats crap. He had a number of major changes in a short timeframe so this makes sense.

I want to loose weight so I can be healthy and stick around as long as I can for him. Short term I'd like to be able to keep up with him and play physical games/sports without sweating my head off five minutes in!

I'm about to tackle DS diet and want to set a good example before he changes from a 'solid' toddler to an overweight child.

Also sick of always feeling like shit and avoiding cameras as I'm so bloody embarrassed when I see pictures of myself Blush

I have previously suffered from anxiety sprinkled with depression but can recognise the signs creeping back again and good diet and exercise always helps keep me keep it together so this is another big push as I want to avoid medication again. Comfort eating is a problem.

Ultimate goal is to shift 5 stone, get DS to eat home cooked food and manage my mental wellbeing.

Would like to loose about the same amount but am taking it slow hoping to loose it slowly so it stays off

I'm making a big batch of butternut and sweet potato soup to see me through lunch for the next few days.

Off to look for a SW friendly pea and ham soup recipe as well. I always find a decent lunch is the key to going on to a healthy dinner for me!

DS doesn't know it but that's also what he'll be getting served up as well!

Same here a good breakfast and lunch and light or small dinner

When I was really on it - going to SW and gym & swimming every week I lost on average 3 lb a week. Some weeks more, others less. I was so highly motivated and really stuck at it. I need to get that back!

It's finally stopped raining so as soon as DS wakes up I'm heading out for a long walk.

For me the weight was falling off when I had a good balance of diet and exercise how bloody boring but just diet or just exercise doesn't do much for me.

im going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and start a chart!

Wishing you all the best I am hoping to average 2 a week if I keep on plan and go to the gym regularly

Until the geese attacked! I'm starving now tho ha!

First big walk down, taking the buggy next time as DS was knackered out after a while and I had to carry him AND fend off killer birds, at least ive burnt off a few kcal's.

Hello all, can I join too? I'm also post adoption (nearly 4 years) but basically getting older and fatter with every day that passes and really want to regain some control over eating so as to be a better role model for my daughter. She, by the way, could be a food role model for me as she eats incredibly healthily (I only wish I had her enthusiasm for endless fruit and veg!)
I recognise bits of me in everything everyone's said so far. I have been on so many diets for so many years and am probably the classic yo yo dieter (though I never seem to lose more than a couple of stone when I really need to lose about 7!) I am the queen of comfort eating and really need to get that under control.

I also can't afford to do SW at mo but do know it works so going to try planning a SW menu for this week then one week at a time.

Thanks for posting this, it's given me the proverbial kick up the backside I need to get started on losing weight.

PoppyStellar welcome. All welcome.

You lot are going to help me kick my own butt!

My highlight is I manage to not but any sweets for myself when I bought sweets for the kids (Wednesday is sweet day for us!).

Minty I am afraid my kids are very, very fussy. My dd was great when little she ate lots of things, now very fussy!

Hello Poppy!

I've been googling SW recipes to get some ideas.

Will have to dust off the slow cooker again....just thinking about campfire stew is bringing a tear to my eye, I almost lived on that the last time I did SW it's bloomin lovely!

I've had two jammy dodgers...TWO!

I'm a lost cause.

On a happier note I comfort ate because I was blubbing about the fact that DS new birth Cert arrived in the post this morning Grin

No gin or wine last night though so not letting the biscuits ruin my good intentions for the rest of the day!

Off to goggle passport application form....can have another aim of not looking like a killer whale in a cozzie when we finally get to go further than Wales on our holidays horrah!

PoppyStellar · 30/06/2016 16:19

Ha ha minty you are not a lost cause over two jammy dodgers. I have been known to work my way through the whole packet and then start on the 'sharing' bag of maltesers... All before my mid morning cuppa...

Great news about the birth certificate though. Definitely a cause for celebration!

I decided to re read some of the SW books I've amassed over the years this morning instead of working and was, dare I say it, a tiny bit motivated to rustle up some tasty healthy grub. Am off to the supermarket now to do a proper shop so that I can do some proper cooking instead of living off biscuits, bread and butter and breaded things from the freezer.

Now poppy if I'd stopped at the jammy dodgers it wouldn't be so bad! Sharing nuggets n chips with DS tonight as totally unprepared and dashing out shortly to a training event on what to share and when with DS. If any handouts I will post them in the adoption topic. Mum is babysitting so I've been cleaning rather than cooking Grin

I had my staple SW tea last night, skinless and boneless chicken thighs, spray oil then dusted with garlic powder and mixed herbs, baking tray in hot oven until crispy, had sweet potato wedges and baked beans with it. All syn free.

If you like pulled pork type dishes I can HIGHLY recommend campfire stew I use the purée not the tinned toms. Fab with rice or in baked spud or even by itself.
