Hi all
After months of delays and an unsubstantiated objection by BM , the court finally sat today and dismissed her objection ( she didn't turn up anyway) and set the final hearing for Aug 16 th and pronouncement on the 23rd yay!!!!!
I wanted to ask someone about the process which now follows , I've read that I can get the birth certificate quite quickly if I pay a fee but .... I wanted to know how long the time scales would be for the court letting the General Registrars office know of the official adoption . Is is on the day , a week later etc ???? We haven't been away for a year and planning on a family holiday in Sept so there's a rush to get the birth certificate followed by the passport
Look forward to your replies

Mine all came through between 4-7 weeks after the adoption order was granted, but it depends on how long it takes the court to notify the registrars

It varies, some courts are quick, others slower, although officially they say you should expect 6-8 weeks to get the short BC on your mat

However for the passport you need the adoption cert not the short bc, you have to apply for that yourself after you recieve the short bc (they will send you the form to do so along with the bc)

Congratulations by the way Grin

Congratulations.
As we all know the wheels turn slowly and tbh I don't think all the papers will be back in time to apply for the passport.

It took two weeks recently for dd3 new passport to arrive, so given that time and the fact you are not going to court until the end of August.....

Could you not save the stress and holiday in this country this year?

I was told that its far easier to get a passport in the child's birth name, and then get it amended post adoption order. So most children in my area have a passport by the time they are placed.

So it might be easiest to ask your childs social worker start the ball rolling now.
