Have you used bemyparent.org?

Hi all

I've been looking at the profiles on bemyparent.org - the unregistered profiles. I'm wondering about how people have found using this site. I have regularly heard about people enquiring about a child/ren and not hearing anything for months - or even not at all. I've also heard about people seeing children on there who they know are already adopted. However, surely this must work, otherwise why would it continue?

I'm a bit nervous about registering for full access. Not all because of the impression I am forming about the site. However I'm wondering if what I've heard and the impression I have is realistic or not.

Would anyone be able to share their expereince please?

We had a thread a few weeks ago about BMP and mentionned some of this, so I've bumped that up for you

Lots of parents subscribe, some find their children through it, but many people won't

It obviously works well for some, but the response you get when you enquire on children will vary. You might well get no response or be told that the child is no longer available. SW can buy a slot in the magzine for 3 months, but then match the child after 1 month. So for the next 2 months the child will appear in the magazine but no longer be available. My DD2 was in BMP but I was linked with her before the magazine came out

I still think it's worth subscribing to a magazine (that or Children who Wait if you are a member of AUK, that's just as good and I preferred it) but don't be surprised if you don't get good responses from SW's through it. It's true that you often don't hear anything. Most poeple end up being linked through their own LA IME. However you never know, some people are successful with it

Lilka, thanks very much, appreciate you doing that. Embarrassed to say I waded through the 22 pages to see if something had been posted before. Went all the way back to 2007 and still missed this from only a few weeks ago - duh.
Much appreciated ta Thanks
