Back to f2f teaching - anyone else?

In the middle of a lockdown we're now seemingly going back to face to face teaching. Is anyone else? Do you think students will come in? Any staff refusing?

I teach face to face, however, at least 50% of our courses have no face to face and time on campus is limited for both students and for staff. No vulnerable staff (according to the risk assessment) are on campus at all, whether it be for age reasons or conditions, or both. If we don't want to come onto campus, that is looked at very sympathetically. I am happy to go onto campus as it's very Covid-19 secure as much as it can be and way more than my children's schools.

I've found that it's a bit of a split with students- one group really want face to face teaching, one group really don't want to come onto campus and won't (either gone home, online only and so on) and a few in the middle.

If you have not had campus teaching for ages, many may not want to bother now. I guess you will have to see.

I’ve been online only all semester. It anything, I’m wondering if f2f teaching is going online. The university has been very good about allowing people to choose whether they want to reach online or on campus. I’m in Scotland, but a tier 3 area (which is equivalent to a tier 2 in England

We've been teaching f2f all along. Some colleagues are expected to do 200 mile round trip commutes on various forms of public transport. The thumbscrews have been tightened on those reluctant to do so. Now lots of the students have buggered off home for lockdown and we're still not allowed to move our modules online. Instead we have to continue f2f and set up additional online sessions for students who have acted in defiance of the government travel restrictions. The gaslighting from senior management has been unbelievable. It's all "safe", there's not been an outbreak (there most certainly has), lots of emails about our wellbeing. It's fucking Orwellian.

Oh yes, we keep being given ‘additional’ annual leave for staff ‘welfare’, but nobody has time to take it because the workloads have increased so much.

Yes, we got the additional annual leave too. There's something almost knowingly insulting about it, given that no one in my department managed to take more than a fortnight's leave (and some even less than that) last year.

Have been doing it all along but hardly anyone turns up (2/15 for example).
