If your marking mine you might prefer to be drunk. It would make more sense! GrinWineGinCake

Yes. Am over using the double question mark (which is my code for ‘WTF?? I have no clue what you are thinking’) and am actually thinking about printing stickers with 2 of the most common corrections on them. I need more Wine.

If you were marking the current pile of crap I'm attempting to write I would gladly drop alcohol off for you Grin

I have this cycle of disappointment every year, where I feel like I've done a pretty good job of having comprehensive lectures, a great reading list, interesting seminar tasks to pull out the knowledge, then I read the first few exam papers and sink into a depression that no-one was listening! Honestly, it's all provided for them, the structure of the lectures is like a mini-essay so all they really have to do is remember this and repeat it for an adequate mark (obviously for higher marks I'm looking for something better). Some can't even do that.

Then I read one or two really good ones, and feel better.

Same cycle, every year! You'd have thought I'd have got over it by now!

Oh my word. Inthedeep, I do exactly that - why do I never learn? And yes to the double question mark WTF. I also have double exclamation mark for when reference Wikipedia.

Just had two seminars where not a single person had done the reading and almost none had attended the lectures. I’m thinking of bringing a bottle to class next week. It’s so depressing

I know what you both mean. All that carefully prepared material and half of them haven’t bothered. We start teaching again Monday and I’ve already had an email asking for an extension on some coursework Hmm oh well, more marking and maybe a bit more Wine later

One good thing about our uni is that all extensions and mitigation are handled by a central office, with set rules, which are nothing to do with us. This is way less stressful than having to listen to people's sob stories and adjudicate ourselves!
