Applying for a school job.....confused over salary????

Im thinking of applying for a school job that is 3 days a week it says in the recruitment pack that its term time only working 38 weeks a year. The salary is Grade 4 £17,072- £18,070 full time
£8,178 – £8,650 pro rata, term time salary. Does that mean i wont get paid in the school holidays? Just for the 38 weeks? Im a bit confused. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it's a T.A type job you will get paid every week but only for 38weeks of work, so the £8000 ish would be for 38 weeks but paid over 52 if that makes sense.

Hi Jen I work for the local council & have term time colleagues, the way they are paid is that the entire annual salary is split over the 12 months, so you get paid the same amount every month including the holidays.

So if the salary were £8178 pro rata then its £8178/12= £681.50 per month before pension is taken out etc

I used to work on this basis. £8178 - £8560 per annum pro rata means that this is the amount you will receive per annum, and spread equally over twelve months. The £8000 ish figure takes account of reductions for the fact that you will only be actually paid for statutory holidays (5 weeks ish?) (obviously as well as part time reduction) so the rest of the school hols are actually unpaid, although you will, as I said, receive your pay in equal amounts over twelve months, so no worries about not having income over the school hols.

Yep, that's right-is it a teaching assistant/support staff job? It'll be about £600 a month take home.

I work in a school and get paid for 44.63 weeks a year, in twelve monthly instalments, but only work term time, which is 39 weeks, so I get holiday pay for 5.63 weeks.
