Eating our 10-a-day thread (2)

Breathmiller · 28/12/2021 22:51

Hi all

This is our second thread about upping our veg and fruit intake on a daily basis.

We tend to list what we've had to keep us accoubtable and generally chat about how to increase the rainbow on our plate.

We don't always make 10 but anything more than you would normally is great. I like to at least get 5. 10 or even sometimes more is a great day.

All welcome whatever reasons.

Yes, thank you Breathmiller

  1. Stewed apple
  2. Frozen berries
  3. Satsuma
  4. Peas

Started with good intentions (& 2 portions) for breakfast and went downhill from there. However, I have reached that point during the festivities where all I want is healthy fresh food now.

I'm still kind of in Christmas mode so not great. But all the "treat" food is nearly done and I can get back to treating myself to some healthier stuff.

  1. Dates
  2. Raisins
  3. Chickpeas and kidney beans

4 &5 - 2 bowls spicy veg soup - onion, celeriac, courgette, pepper, tomatoes
  1. Far too much coleslaw

New thread, new me! Grin Umm yeah, it's not going great unfortunately. DH was intent on making a healthy Moroccan fish tagine today with lots of veg and chickpeas but he got called into work. So instead I did a chicken roast with some veg-

  2. broccoli
  3. peas
  4. mango juice (full all sugar but hey ho)
    4.5) half a banana (DS's left over)

    It's fine.

I think it's fine to relax a bit over Christmas (the WHOLE of Christmas)
I remember when I thought of doing this at the start, my main thing was not to berate myself when i didn't manage so many in a day but celebrate what I did do. So, no berating is the theme of this new shiny thread. It's all good.
I had half an avocado, lemon juice and pumpkin seeds with tomatoes for breakfast- I can definitely see myself craving something healthy now. It's that post Christmas thing. I feel the need for a salad. 😇

I think a lot of Christmas can be positive.
There's the Brussels, the parsnips, cranberries, lots of fruit. I usually do a couple of mushroom dishes along the way with some sherry and cream to make them festiveXmas Smile!

Yes, that's true actually. Brussels, carrots, peas, brocolli, parsnips. I start with a home made vegan mushroom pate. And our French Xmas Day was full of veg, mushroom bourgignon, onion tart, and green beans with ratatouille.
(Its the extras outside of the main meal that are my downfall I suppose)

Yes a nice plain broth appeals as well after all the rich food.
The variation to routine is what makes a good festival!

Hello 👋

I saw the last thread and it was great to read everyone's contributions and since this is a new thread, I'd love to join in!

It's still early in the US (it's almost 8am) so I'll let you know how I did later today but I'll start the day with oatmeal, shredded apple, blackberries and pecans.

Have a great day!

Wash a bag of chopped kale and dry it. Toss it in a dessertspoonful of sesame oil (or olive oil if you don't have sesame) with a good teaspoon full of garlic granules, a sprinkling of sea salt and or chilli flakes . Roast in the oven until crispy. About 20 mins on 180 degrees on top shelf.
