Any midland mummies (or daddies)?

Hey,

Any midland mummies/ daddies?

I’m looking for cheap (preferably free) winter days out for DD (just over 2). I had DS last week and super conscious to try and keep things as ‘normal’ as possible for her. We try to do one ‘adventure’ a week, by that I mean like one afternoon out. Now it’s winter, bitter outside and I’m breastfeeding a newborn, conscious that we can’t spend that much time outside. Summer activities were a breeze as we live super close to quite a few nature reserves and parks but I’m finding winter activities much harder.

Anyone know any sort of hidden gems that might be a nice day for us? We’re about 15 mins from bham city centre by car.

So far I’ve got:
Neverland fun house (really rate it, it’s quite small and themed, lovely cakes and only takes bookings so not overran)
Lapworth geology museum
Cannon hill park and the mac
William wheat garden centre and fairy walk

I’m struggling with more though?

Any one know of any of those sort of role play themed places in bham? I’ve seen friends go them in stoke, but it’s a bit far from us xx

Rainbow Street in Cradley is nice for pre schoolers. Bookings only but that was always the case.

Selly Manor museum isn't huge but often has craft activities etc. Blakesley Hall is similar.

Bluebell farm is nice, although largely outside, stress have inside play space and very nice cafe.

Umberslade Farm is lovely. Not free, but not £££ either. They have tractor rides and a play barn too for poor weather. Springtime might be best though, as your DD can feed the lambs, hold the chicks/rabbits etc.

Have a look at the Dudley canal trust. Pre-covid they did toddler mornings for about 50p and they do special xmas events.

We visited Santa at Rays Farm last year which was really nice and pretty cheap.

Ah these are brilliant! Keep ‘me coming!

@KingsHeathen she’ll love that. We took her to forge mill farm in West Brom and she loved it! As you said thought might be better from March onwards.

Spring activities a highly recommend RSPB nature reserve for being out and about. Cafe is a bit dead but there are bird lookouts and lots of toddler centric outdoor toys and den building and it’s all free. Pond dipping is like £2
Donkey sanctuary at sutton park is lovely too!

It’s just the winter ones esp when it’s bloody freezing.

There's a new play cafe opened in Bearwood that has a role play section. It's called The Magic Garden. I haven't been but it looks good.
