Tax free childcare query

I set up my tax free childcare account last month and they prorated my assessment period so my new period starts next week (but I had two lots of nursery fees to pay during the last period).

I know in a normal quarter I can get topped up by up to £500.

For the period just gone because of the way the dates fell I only got the benefit of £200 even though I paid out over £2k in nursery fees.

I'm now in credit in my tax free account (and that money hasn't been topped up) because my new assessment period doesn't start until mid December. Once I'm in the new assessment will the non topped up money get topped up or do I need to withdraw it and pay it in again.

Apologies this is so long and complicated. I normally understand stuff like this but HMRC seem to have made it as difficult as possible.

Why are you in credit? If it wasn't topped up and you didn't need to use it for fees then it seems a waste? It's not usually complicated but you seem to have made it more so Grin
