Private health care

There was a thread on here recently about this but I can’t find it.
Given the NHS seems largely useless these days, I am wondering if private healthcare is the best option . No idea which provider to go for it if it’s worth it. I wondered who has had good experiences and what recommendations people would make?

Benenden Healthcare is excellent, been a member for 25years, all my immediate family are covered by them. Reasonable cost, claimed (unfortunately) many times.

Axa are amazing in my experience. It is beyond worth it! Sometimes I have seen a consultant the next day, never had to wait more than a fortnight and if they recommend an xray/MRI etc it's normally done within the week. It really allows you to take control of your health. So if you can afford it, do it.

We’re with Vitality, have been for years, we’ve used it twice, DP had a major eye operation which was done very quickly and efficiently, plenty of follow up appointments and excellent aftercare. I had a suspicious mole removed, gp was reluctant to do it as it was high on my chest and he thought it would scar. Had it removed privately, very minor procedure but was more than happy with the care I received. Had it done the week after I first contacted Vitally.

We have Axa through work, they’ve always been great.

i get it through work and 100 per cent recommend it. I am with Aviva.
Until you use it you just don't appreciate how brilliant it is, different world

I've recently taken out private healthcare via a broker. I highly recommend Richard Champion at activequote.com. He was able to explain the pros and cons of each company's offerings and I ended up with exactly the right plan for me at the same price as if I'd gone direct. All the big players offer basically the same coverage but the extras/bonuses vary enormously and it's really helpful to have someone who knows the market inside out and will guide you through it.
