Finally. We can say it.

I've just utterly broken down for Arthur.

Evil woman.

I can’t believe they’ve found Hughes not guilty of depriving food and water - he was in the bloody house with Arthur and must have known he was hungry / thirsty!

That poor poor little boy. His story makes me feel sick. He suffered so much and was horrifically let down. RIP Arthur.

Me too Bagelsandbrie, he deserved the murder conviction too.

Incredibly sad as he was not a forgotten child. Members of his extended family wanted to help him.

His death is not just at the hands of the vile creatures posing as parents but the people that could have removed him from that environment and saved him.

A relative took a picture of severe bruising to Arthur's back on April 15 last year and phoned social services the next day… but somehow they did not see the full extent of his bruising and decided that there were no safeguarding concerns;
Arthur had been on social services' radar for three years.. at least five of Arthur's relatives and a neighbour told social services that his life was in grave danger;
Teacher said he had become more 'reserved and anxious' and 'fixated' with his father killing him;

I hope they both get long sentences. I do worry Hughes will be out fairly quickly. He is huge risk to others, he has a violent and nasty personality. A very dangerous man. Both of them should be sterilised. The whole case has made me feel utterly sick that people can be so evil.’

The mother is in prison for killing her boyfriend.

It’s one of the most harrowing cases of child abuse and murder I’ve ever come across.

The mother is in prison. That's why poor Arthur was living with his father and Tustin.

Is she not in prison herself for murdering her partner? IIRC. That's why Arthur ended up with those two I think.

@FolornLawn she went to prison for murdering her partner after Hughes. That is how Arthur ended up with him. He went from Disney dad to single dad and he couldn't deal with it

How can it happen in this day and age ?

It's too horrific for words really.

The jury have been excused from further jury service for life. I feel incredibly sorry for those on the jury, it must have been horrendous.

When you look at the facts of the case, certain things stood out which should have been massive red flags to social services e.g. he was sleeping in the living area with no bed or room of his own.

How many times have we seen concerned mothers worried that their children are going for contact at the father/girlfriend's house and there is no bed or room for the child, and this is not considered cause to stop contact? Amongst other concerns of emotional neglect.

I'd go so far as to say that this case is emblematic of the problematic institutional emphasis on father's contact at all costs, over the welfare of the child. Even this manslaughterer's own mother was concerned and the authorities did nothing.

It speaks volumes that the jury have been excused from any jury service for the rest of their lives (I haven't seen the video and won't).

That poor poor, child - and tonight more just like him are out there.

Truly horrific, I can't stop thinking of that poor poor little boy. They both deserve to rot in hell. The authorities, social services and his school have blood on their hands too and he is why we must never lockdown again.

I think the mask slipped and he was always a monster just like Tustin.

Lockdown played a huge part in this. Too easy for social services, and Hughes and Tustin to make excuses.

@PicsInRed yes I do agree with that. By all accounts he had a happy life with his mum. This happened near where I live and I also know someone whose child was at the same school as him when he lived with his mum. It also said in the court that his old nursery worker said he was very happy. So she was a murderer as well but she loved her child. I hope she knows some people who are near Tustin.

I didn't realise Tustin had 4 children of her own. Where were they?
