Is life just hard or am I depressed?

I have no idea. I've woken up to another day and dont want to get out of bed. The thoughts of getting through another day with work and the kids makes me want to cry. I just want the day to be over.

Should I see my GP or is this just normal when things are shit (which seems to be all the time now)

Please go to the GP, you shouldn't need to struggle through - have you told anyone how you're feeling?

Thanks - I've told my partner I'm struggling but haven't told him the full extent of how bad I'm feeling.

Definitely see your GP. Is there something specific going on that is making you feel this way?

Can you organise some help and have a couple of days off. Mum? Other Family member.

I find when I get like that, two days when I can sleep as long as I need, have some time to myself, go for a swim, just get my balance back usually works.
Is there someone who will help you?

Thanks. I have made an appt with my GP.

There is a lot going on at the minute with work, kids, family member (who is my main support and looked after DC) being very ill and requiring surgery. I don't really have any other support. I've arranged a childminder for older DC but cant afford one for younger DS as well so have to juggle work and him.

I dont think I ever fully recovered from postnatal depression I had after my youngest which is why I'm not sure if this is that, or if its just normal stresses of life.

I’ve been taking antidepressants since I started feeling similarly and it has made a big difference - I feel generally much less down and more able to be proactive about dealing with problems. Good luck speaking to your GP

No idea if you are depressed op, but yes life (after children!) is really hard! My theme tune is ' I get knocked down, but I get up again'

Thanks all.

@MrsPsmalls that made me laugh grin

Saw my gp so I'm going back on meds and will look for a counsellor to go to aswell. Hopefully I'll feel some bit better in a week or two.

Just came on to say that life is hard and a struggle at times and I think it is unrealistic to think otherwise. Have found out today that my son and I have covid... as if I didn't have enough to do!!

Give yourself a break and yes take it as a sign that you need to book in some time with yourself for self-care / relaxation/ having someone do for you. I find being a parent relentless. Worthwhile but relentless.
