We need a new sofa. After 22 years our have definitely turned up their toes.

How much were yours? Did you buy on credit or straight out? Leather or cloth? We have dogs so need to be hard-wearing but bored with leather now.

Is £2500 a reasonable budget for two sofas and a chair?

I wouldn't recommend mine and the company has gone bust now anyway but I would say, really think about you like to sit on one. If you like to curl up, is the seat deep enough? If you like to lie down, is the arm the right height and supportive enough? I found a lot of sofas aren't deep enough.

We are going with the Ektrop from IKEA. Went to try it out in the showroom. Very impressed with it.

We can't buy leather as ours is a giant breed dog, so it's fabric for us that can be machine washable. Ideal.

We have loaf dixie and I love it. We got the love seat too a few years later and that’s equally great.

@HarrisMcCoo our sofas survived two rottweilers and two Jack Russell's,and two DDs . We were going to stick with leather for this reason but really want fabric. Sofology do a range of pet friendly cloth sofas but they are pricey snd quite modern. I want something homely.

We have seen a nice sofa in oak furniture land but I'm put off by the upfront payout if buying cash as opposed to not paying until delivery if we go for credit which I'm not keen to do. Also a bit over budget

See if there are any discount furniture places near you that sell sofas there is one near us that sells new sofas that are cancelled orders or showroom stock. They have what they have but are cheaper that would be at DFS for example.
We actually ordered a new one from a local furniture shop recently. I would avoid sofalogy as my SIL had a bad experience with a below standard sofa she got from them.

Got mine from Furniture Village 11 years ago and they are still going strong. They cost £2000 but are a 4 and 3 seaters. The only thing I need to do with them is get someone in to give them a clean (fabric).

I'd happily go secondhand but dp doesn't want to and with the dogs they would probably piss on it if they could smell other dogs.my dogs are getting old dirty bastards

Ours is a leather Abbey from M&S. we’ve had it 15 years and it’s still going strong. So comfy and plenty of cushioning left in it.

We have Loaf and Sofa.com sofas. The Loaf one looks good but is uncomfortable whereas the Sofa.com ones look good and are FABULOUSLY comfortable.

My sister has the same view of her Load sofa. So I don't recommend them but can't find a bad word to say about Sofa.com

We went to Sofa Workshop. Expensive but good quality (although have now changed hands I think?). We went in to the shop and actually tried them out by sitting on them. Eliminated any which were uncomfortable or didn't appeal and ended up with our choices.

We’ve just gone through this after realising our fifteen year old sofa has really had its day. I wanted a change from brown leather, but nothing else is as practical with kids and a vomity cat, so brown leather again it is. We’ve chosen one from The Conran Shop. Bit pricey. Hope it’s worth it.

Our current sofas are from Sofology - just about lasted us six years and looking very worse for wear now - we don’t even have DC and only got a dog this year!! £3k not well spent.

We’re waiting for our new sofas to arrive from Next. I’m nervous Blush sofas just seem to be made really shoddily now.

I have a fabric Abbey and it is awful. The quality of the Abbey is so bad now in comparison to years ago. Only had mine 2 years and looking for a replacement, the cushions are flat and awful now. I know they used to be great because my friend has one she has owned for 10 years.

I did a lot of research before and sofa.com came out well in terms of reviews. We're considering Darlings of Chelsea who are good and comfortable too. Theyre made the old fashioned way and in the UK so I'd hope they last longer.

Our current one is DFS and it's really looking shabby now - lasted 11 years, but only just. Didn't rush to replace it as my youngest is 4yo, and have one year old dog too.

I looked into JL sofas and M&S but can't justify spending over £1500 on sofas due to our lifestyle. Perhaps will revisit when DC have left home 🤞

Leather okay with pets OP? I had visions of my Saint stretching out her massive paws and scratching it to pieces so we opted for fabric (again) with the Ektorp.

You won’t be disappointed.....we have a 2 seater ikea Ektorp That we bought in 2001.... granted....it was in our 2nd reception room so wasn’t used as much as the sofas in our lounge....but has still had good usage over the last 20 years by me and my partner, our 3 ( now grown up children, my grandchildren and 2 dogs...in our new house we use it daily....we are on our 3rd set of loose covers but it still looks as good as new.....it’s been discontinued in the US and Canada....But still going strong in the U.K...l hope it gives you years and years of comfort 😁

Just to reassure you... 7 years into my next corner suite. Needs a good clean but after after fluffing it up a bit it's still nearly as good as the day I bought it!!
