Samosas, onion bhajis, pakoras

(Veggie) sausage rolls are compulsory

Lots of different salads

Is it for a particular event? Are you going to theme it?

Thank you. It’s for after a christening.

Are you planning on buying or cooking?

Puff pastry tarts are easy you make and do well cut up. This is a really nice one and easily adaptable.

Pizzas are always very popular.

I am veggie and I bloody LOVE a buffet.

I'd rip your hand off for:

  • Greek salad (big chunks of tomatoes and cucumbers, nice feta, real Kalamata olives, properly dressed with good Greek olive oil and oregano, served with crusty bread)

  • Wee baked potatoes with veggie-friendly toppings - maybe humous, sour cream, egg mayo, veggie chilli?

  • Really nice, fresh crudites and dip

  • Veggie sausage rolls - I had some recently with a lentil and mushroom stuffing that were AMAZING

  • Asian-style noodle salads are brilliant

  • Tabbouleh, perhaps served with a whole roasted cauliflower, sprinkled with pomegranate seeds and crushed pistachios

  • A decent cheese board, with chutney and chopped apples and celery

  • If it's cold, full-sized baked, potatoes, soup and / or 'bulk' dishes, like veggie chilli (I do a great Mexican-style black bean stew) or curries, with rice and / or bread

    Ooh, I'm hungry, now. Grin

Also, if your buffet is cold, if you buy Quorn stuff, PLEASE heat it up beforehand (even if you then allow it cool before serving): cold Quorn cocktail sausages etc are like eating shoe leather.

I could eat a whole plate of bosh cauliflower wings on my own

I would try to stay away from quorn because so many don’t react well to it

Pizza, if you can bung in oven so they're hot.

Rice salad

Falafels, pitta and houmous

Maybe a whole cold salmon for non veggies

Eggs with a curryish sauce (can't remember name)

Depends how much time I have! Ideally I’d like to make the majority but will buy if necessary.

I see this come up on mumsnet quite often but have never come across it in real life and most of mine and DH's friends are veggie or vegan. How do you react if you don't react well to it? (Not accusing you of lying, genuinely curious about it!)
Quorn wouldn't be top of my list of brands given the masses of choice available now but certainly ate enough of it when it was all you could get.

Oh and domino's is meant to be doritos in my previous post Blush

Quorn can give some people diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach pain. I’ve got a few veggie/vegan friends who can’t eat it. It’s fine for me and dh but it’s not a risk I’d take with people I didn’t know.

That doesn't sound very vegan Hmm

Isn’t it obvious it’s “meat”balls, meringues made with Aqua faba, vegan cheese burger bites etc?

I prefer things that feel 'fresh' as most things seem to be beige and pastry/bread based.

Lots of vegetable based large salads are food - like sweet potato salad or a green vegetable salad like broccoli, runner beans etc rather than the traditional salad leaves and cucumber etc. Even a pasta or pesto salad that tastes good cold or roasted vegetables.

Maybe a Spanish omelette cut in to sections too. Fruit platters like watermelon chunks are tasty and light.

I love making Vietnamese summer rolls. They are actually gluten free and vegan, although you can add chicken/prawns or duck etc.

There are many youtube videos on how to roll them. I serve with a basic satay sauce. The rice paper is available at sainsburys, or even cheaper at a Chinese or Vietnamese grocery store.

I made a roast veg lasagne for a recent buffet (alongside some meat dishes). With broccolli in sesame oil and chilli, with Caesar salad, breads, etc
