Who's awake?

Bloodybridget · 22/09/2021 03:29

I'm sleeping so badly atm - it's never my strong suit, but for the past week or more I've been awake for hours every night, or had several periods of wakefulness.
I'm ready for bed by 10, light out by 11 latest, then wake at midnight or 1am, and so it goes on. I think I've been awake three hours now. Usually up at 6, rarely later than 7.
I'm not worried about anything, I do get sciatic pain in my leg at night which is bothersome.

Anyway - not looking for solutions, just feeling a bit fed up and thought I'd see who else is in the same boat.

Me! 39 weeks pregnant and awful PGP pain. My pain killers usually wear off at this time so I should really get up and take more but always end up awake for ages...

Insomnia sucks! I have had years of varying insomnia issues and sooooo many suggested remedies

Currently I am okay as long as I can get to sleep and not be woken up

However it’s 3am and the small sniffly child is full of snot and barking like a sea lion so I have been hugging him for the past 20 minutes….now he is back in bed fast asleep and I am AWAKE!!!!

Mumsnetting does not help 😂

My latest trick is to lie down, make myself super comfy and then count backwards from 1000 really really really slowly, breathe in and out really slowly and focussing on your breath.

In out in out and as you breathe out the second time think 1000 in your head. Then in out in out and as your breathe out 999 slowly in your head as you breathe out

I swear the lowest I have got in the past month is 975 and I’ve been asleep.

Greetings and sympathy to all of you, and a special mention to those coping with children and babies. At least I can just lie here faffing about online.
@Wutheredout I'm going to put the light out and try your counting backwards trick - here's hoping!

I am. Poor DD threw up all over her sheets and pyjamas twice so I've given up and curled up on the armchair with her and quiet lullabies on the TV. Think I'll be up the rest of the night with her Sad

Me Grin I am often awake around now since hitting peri-menopause age but currently DD has covid and suspect I have it to. So hard to sleep but am just passing time on internet and watching programs so not too bad.

I'm awake! Obviously. Lol. I'm not a brilliant sleeper at the best of times but the full moon definitely doesn't help.

Greetings fellow insomniacs.

Another one here. I tend to get 4-5 hours sleep then ping! Wide awake at 4 with washing machine brain. Perimenopause is the gift that keeps on giving. I just go with it now and read or Mumsnet for a while and hope I might get sleepy before the alarm goes off. I feel for those of you with little ones keeping you up or with pain issues.

Hello! I often wake through the night but have a terrible sore throat and stuffy nose... Covid rife in the school I teach in but not hit my department yet.. now I'm panicking about ringing my head to say I'm off for a pcr as so many supply teachers in all ready... feel so guilty but also don't wanna be in spreading Covid when it's likely just a cold...

Me. I'm on day 6 of covid. I'm generally ok as long as I take paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours day and night. I missed the 4 hour spot tonight though (and last night and the night before) so I woke up in pain after 5 hours and I'm waiting for the medicine to take effect again.

I really do hate covid. It's making me feel so ill!!!

Hi Bloodybridget. I’m wide awake and having yet another sleepless night with sciatica. I’m lucky if I get 2 or 3 hours a night at the moment.
The nights are so long and my mind wanders. When I’m not over analyzing everything I’m stressing about all sorts of imagined scenarios. Roll on 6.30am. I’ll be shattered all day but at least I’ll be up and busy. Hope your night/morning improves and you’re able to get some shut eye

I'm sorry about your mum @BlueDuCkBlue.

I have developed a habit of walking at 4 every morning. Assuming it's perimenopause. The weird thing is I don't feel tired in the day.

DC has Covid and is miserable with it so I've been up giving meds. Frantically refreshing my emails for my test results but pretty sure I have it too. Am vaccinated so fingers crossed for a mild dose.

Peri menopause and DS has his driving test this morning. It was due to be last week but got cancelled a few hours beforehand by the DVSA. I am hoping it goes ahead today and he passes 🤞🤞
