Omg I'd love to know . Trying so hard here with diet and exercise, for all the good it's doing me , I might as well sit on my bum and eat chips

I think Pilates is the answer. I did a weeks Pilates holiday and at the end I had some waist definition. Never kept it up though!

Ok Pilates is one idea, thanks. I feel like I really need to do something as it's getting me down but what if that's it and never to be seen again

I’ve been through the menopause a few years back and have maintained my figure by eating less calories.

I’ve always been active and have never been overweight but as I’ve got older I need fewer calories.

I eat well and if I have a day where I have consumed a higher than normal amount of calories I am careful the next day.

I have never drink alcohol but friends who eat sensibly but do drink alcohol are thicker around the waist.

I do not deny myself anything, I just might not eat all of it!

Thanks for these - might turn over a new leaf in August by

  • no alcohol
  • no sugar
  • yoga/pilates most days
  • maybe reducing carbs a bit/eating a bit less

See if there's any improvement after a month

Yes, with the usual boring things:

  • calorie deficit
  • running
  • 10 minutes core work daily
  • strength work

Also worth looking at diastasis recti and testing yourself for it.
I find it's not talked about much in the UK, but in other countries women are helped close the gap and regain their core health post-partum.

Davina's 7 minute fit. The box fit one every day. Keeps your waist lovely.

10 minutes of your time and you're done.

That sounds good gamerchick will add it to the list. Might start a thread on here in August for motivation

Cardio & weight training. Your body without oestrogen puts weight on your tummy instead of your bum and legs. Cardio and strength training will help you shift it.

Ooh, I'll join of you start a thread @Katekarate
I've just had a look at Davina's site. Going to join, I think.

yep im almost50..put on lot of weight in last18mths-triedmany different ways to limit my huge portions(ahem)&prolific snacking habit-the only thing that yielded fast&lasting results was completely cutting wheat/grains&all sugar..so sticking to roughly50g carbs per day..once id lost15kg i bought a treadmill&weights&i finally feel buzzing with energy&just alive again afterfeeling almost comatose in an endless over-eating stupor..my waist was the first thing i regained..bingo wings &back of thigh cellulie taking longer than anticipated tho😡Just bought a massage gun to pummel said areas into submission!

I'm not certain if I'm in peri, but maybe (flipping periods every 28 days, and wish otherwise now) I am because I'm increasingly ratty and irritable Grin.

The thing that seems to help is posture and holding my stomach in. Not sucking it in, just pulling up from the lower part of my tummy. Being aware of the muscles and consciously checking my posture. But I've always eaten like a horse and been skinny. Its just starting to change now. I'm also not certain whether I've changed due to covid. Having had it I'm still exhausted, or if lack of activity due to lockdown contributed to lack of fitness and my new frumpy tum.

Same Skybluepinkgiraffe

Well done CornishPastyDownUnder

It seems like from this thread that some serious regular exercise is the only way, plus eating properly low sugar, low carbs and also pilates and yoga. Probably sleep and water as well and maybe massage/body brushing. I reckon we can at least make some improvements in August to kick things off. Will be back 1st August for Skybluepinkgiraffe and anyone else who wants to join in and motivate and support each other.

It's a good point MinitheMinxI Somewhere along the line I seem to have stopped holding mine in Blush and probably a year plus of wearing elasticated waists has really not helped. Plus all the stress. Having had covid is bound to be not helping, hope you're feeling better now and the tiredness goes soon.

I do waist exercises specifically and also a lot of walking.

I don’t eat much sugar although I eat a lot of fruit, and few refined carbs.
I don’t like low carb and too much protein doesn’t suit me.

I know people love yoga but I find it really boring.

ChristopherTracy · 24/07/2021 13:42

HRT! Seriously, going on HRT 3 x 1.5 hour walks a week, pilates once a week and a high protein, low carb diet has stopped the rot here, it isnt falling off but at least it isnt going up anymore.

Also find yoga boring.

Pilates is great for core and obliques. I do lots of running but I don’t think that does much other than make me hungry. Trying to up protein now.

I basically have a little wine belly though and I refuse to give up the wine so I accept it.

Yes HRT is my next plan. Also hoping the oestrogen in it will make me look younger? Anyone?
