Bring your worries over here, the Night Shift are still here to mind them

New thread here, since the Last Thread has ever so slowly filled up. Isn't it amazing how little our worries crept up in the night when the world was actually one big worry?

Pandemic or not, this is the place to just park your worries. We don't ask questions, or try to solve your problems. We just hold them, tenderly, carefully, until you are strong enough to take them back. If they choose not to come back, all the better.

Signing in for the Night Shift, V3!

Ahh what a lovely thread. Just what I need now, dad has been doing so well with his cancer battle but they have just found a second more serious type. Felt like I literally can’t breathe right now, chest is so tight

@2018SoFarSoGreat Thank you for the shiny new thread. I’ve missed this.

Oh @Shieldingending you are in such good hands with our dear @hannayeah. You just breathe and let it all go.

Yes, @hannayeah I have too. I'm always so delighted when it pops us and we are called into duty.

I didn't know these were still going. I found great comfort nearly two years ago when I was going through cancer treatment. The original thread was someone I knew from the cancer thread.

I'll swap you for tonight, @User018475022. Leave yours with me and I'll mind them whilst I work. They will sit in the (currently empty) cat hammock so that I can keep a stern eye on them, should they try to misbehave.

I'm fretting about when I'll ever get to travel home (to Scotland from California) to see my family. I'm physically missing them all so much.

Mine isn't as serious and this is the first time I've seen this thread (love the idea). From the outside I have a wonderful life but just feel so blah in my head. So mental health has take a downturn. I worry about everything and it's so exhausting. My worries have worries. And possible solutions to those worries bring up more worries!

@Shieldingending and @2018SoFarSoGreat definitely holding those for you. Can very much identify with your posts.

My baby has started a new thing of crying inconsolably at bedtime. It’s so heartbreaking and hard to deal with, and it makes me frantic that I can’t fix it.

Here for you cloudnine. Is it the witching hour?

Report
Cloudninenine · 20/07/2021 19:00

Maybe. Although he’s seven months, so should have outgrown it. He’s never really been fussy in the evenings and used to go to sleep reasonably happily, but just lately it’s like he anticipates being left alone and just breaks his heart over it Sad

Hello all Smile I was on the last two threads so I'm an experienced worry minder at this stage Grin

Happy to help any evening and thanks for starting a new thread @2018SoFarSoGreat. I hadn't seen the last thread for a while, it's great to see it's still going.

@Cloudninenine I remember well how stressful a baby's crying can be, when you don't have a clue what's wrong and can't seem to fix it Flowers

Can somebody please take mine for the night? They’re very trivial compared to the others but my boyfriend left 3 days ago and I’m absolutely broken.

I keep worrying about my parents dying. They are in their seventies in good health.

I'm worried about not spending enough time with them. I see them every day.

I know I'm an idiot.

Report
Gazelda · 20/07/2021 22:02

@supafish that sounds like a worry. Try to get some cool sleep, your worries are being taken care of.

@ABitOfAShitShow sorry you're suffering. Your troubles aren't trivial, they are real. But leave them with me for this evening.

@namcybotwinbloom You're not an idiot. It's a worry many of us have. I'll pop your worry next to the others' and keep a close eye for you.

Report
2018SoFarSoGreat · 20/07/2021 22:05

@supafish you poor thing. Let us just lift that worry and tension for now, and you just rest. Let it go. All the way. That's it. Breathe.

@ABitOfAShitShow oh your poor heart. I remember oh so well how that feels. I am sorry. You just sleep and let your poor heart mend. Go on, just do that. You don't have to worry about it tonight.

@namcybotwinbloom oh, what a worry that is. It is such a hard thing to think of letting go, and as we age it become so real. Not for tonight though. I shall hold this worry tight, it shall not wrangle free. You get some well earned sleep. I've got you.

I've had my worries minded in the past and it really helped me sleep. I'm now in a less worrisome place and am also happy to look after someone's worries if that would help.

DD is out cavorting in pubs and clubs again. She’s late teens but is never truthful about what’s what, so I get so anxious waiting for the sound of her return. It’s been three nights/early mornings in a row and I’m exhausted. I need to let this go but she seems hell bent on self destruction and I’m so tired of lying in bed worrying. Sounds ridiculous. If only I could get a grip…

These threads always make me feel emotional to see the kindness and empathy shown to strangers.

I am really worried about some symptoms I have at the moment, am worried I will never feel better, am worried it's something sinister, am worried I will leave my baby behind... it's all a spiral of uncontrollable fear at the moment. Thank you to anyone who can mind this worry for the night x
