Kindle or Kindle paperwhite?

LouLou198 · 22/06/2021 22:11

For dd age 10. I have a paperwhite. The standard kindle is significantly cheaper, but I've only ever had the paperwhite so nothing to compare with. Reviews on Amazon very mixed. Anyone have the standard Kindle? And would you recommend? Thanks.

I prefer the kindle. Reading it is more restful and like a book. Dh disagrees and prefers the paperwhite.

I'm sure my kindle is bog standard.
I love it and I'm not sure what else I could need.

Does she read at night / in the dark and need it to be backlit? That is the main difference I think.

Definitely the paper white here due to the back light but that's mainly as an adult who shares a bed and if one wants the lights off the other can still sit and read!

I prefer the paperwhite..it's easier to read in the sun..also l have the back light so l can read in bed and not disturb partner. Depends where your DD will be reading it l suppose

Paperwhite is better in sunlight as well as in the dark

Backlight would be useful as she tends to read in bed. Thanks for the replies.

Love my paper white, not just for dark but also when it’s bright outside. Yes it’s more expensive but they are good quality, I had one last 5 years until I stood on it 🤦‍♀️

I chose a Kobo Clara because I can borrow library books on it for free.

Paperwhite ordered, thanks for the advice. Got a good Prime day deal, saved £50 on a bundle which includes case and charger.
