Is the interior of your house ‘up to date’ and well maintained?

Or is it like mine and a bit rough?
Old kitchen, carpets need replacing, rooms need redecorating...

I’m looking on right move and most houses look like show homes and seem to have brand new kitchens, bathrooms and wallpaper in every room...

I’m starting to think I’m living in a dump.
The walls/ floors are neutral and I have nice furniture but The actual fixtures and fittings are tired. Anyone else?

No Grin
It’s not shabby chic, it’s just shabby.
I just never seen to get on top of it.

Yep, just like yours. I paint bits occasionally, but because we rent I have no control over the carpets and crappy shoddily fitted kitchen and cracked bathroom suite from the 70s, so I feel less inclined to make the rest look nice/spend money on it.

We decorate every year, I keep main theme of the colour scheme the same just freshen up but change feature walls.
Woodwork gets done yearly too!
Luckily I have a DP who does it all

I know, I look at houses too and wonder what they'll be like in 5 or 10 years time - do they replace everything? I like to think I'm

I meant no, not yes. Obviously.
It does annoy me, especially when I look at Rightmove etc. But it's still a lot better than the caravans I grew up in, as I have electricity and running water, so there's that!

Our kitchen is on its last legs, the roof needs work and it all needs redecorating.

I think that too when I look on Right Move. My house is tidy but needs woodwork painting
Living room needs redecorating ( put wallpaper up over 6 years ago) looks dated but have no motivation to do so.
I think some people must spend all their time off shopping, painting and decorating

No. We’ve only decorated four rooms since we moved in 8 years ago. It’s very granny chic. Plus most of our furniture was inherited from our grandparents and doesn’t match.

I think the same. We have no time and no money. Means it's very shabby and there's nothing I can't do about it.
So jealous of people who have either hours to do it themselves or lots of money to pay for decorators

No, DH is complaining that DD wants a new room colour because he only painted it 5 years ago. Most of it is chipped paintwork and scuffed woodwork. There's more to life than decor though!

Rik and Ragz*
I’ve just taken pictures of each room. The photos make it look lovely. The camera doesn’t pick up the chipped woodwork, uneven, scuffed walls, damp patch from leaking bath, worn carpets and the fact that the kitchen is falling apart. I don’t know where to start.

😂 I can see it’s not the norm from this thread now.

We’ve recently repainted all different colours but I’d like new carpets and furniture. No point with a toddler and one on the way.

I’m feeling a bit better now.
We don’t have spare money for a kitchen.
I ‘decorated’ the smallest room and it is a mess. I just made it worse.

We ( well rather my DH ) repainted roughly every 2 years we mainly keep to the same neutral colours so it’s no problem to touch things up either
Glossing we ( DH ) will do every year
It’s all wood flooring so that’s easy to keep clean and the kitchen units are high gloss ones so easy to wipe over

Most people spend fair bit of time effort and elbow grease before the house goes on the market. It’s not real or least not for very long after you move in.

Ours is kept nice and for example today I repainted stools and changed prints in frames. Have new plants and rug.
I tend to spend all my time and money on the house though. It's my thing.

Ours is a recently-acquired giant Victorian wreck we’re just camping out in till we decide what to do with it, so it’s a warren of knackered bare floorboards, boxes and chipped, deeply peculiar paint colours.

But I actually quite like it like this. I loathe the matchy show house look, with ‘pops’ of colour.

My husband is doing DIY constantly but probably 2 rooms a year and maintenance inc garden and fences and garage etc the rest.

Houses just quickly deteriorate if you don't maintain?

Have a 6 bed 3 bathroom house with front and back garden.

Houses on Rightmove are for sale, so probably vendors want them to look their best. Although I do see the odd one with the toilet seat left up in the photos 😳

Half of my house is (I think!) stunning and decorated exactly as we like it. The other half is a shitshow with seventies wallpaper and horrendous carpet. We’re half way through majorly renovating.
