So relieved about work situation

I went back to work in July after mat leave and went straight to working from home. A combination of very very poor mental health, a pandemic and huge amounts of stress about my home life has meant my performance is shit. There's no other word for it tbh. I've had breakdowns at work, I've had time off for stress. I've had help and improvement plans and I fully expected this to all culminate in my dismissal.

I had a call from my line manager today running something by me, there's an opening in our contact centre and would I like to move there. No change in terms or salary. I actually cried with relief. I've done contact centre work before so I know I can do it and I've worked in the business for years so I know what I'm talking about. I'm so pleased! I really feel looked out for, rather than using my performance as a reason to get rid of me (which they would be well within their rights to) they've found somewhere else for me. It's not known for being a great company to work for but I've got a great manager on my side.

I just wanted to share my overwhelming relief.

That so lovely, well done you and well done your manager. I hope things continue to look up for you in all areas of your life.

It clearly means you are well thought of but clearly have had some problems and they have thought about your skills and looked after you.

You are lucky but also run towards this new job and grab it with both hands and with confidence as they clearly believe in you x

I 100% know how fortunate I am to have this opportunity. I've worked with the managers before and they're looking forward to having me. I'm looking forward to having them! I've had no job satisfaction while I've been struggling and I am so excited to get stuck in with something I can actually excel at.

Wow that's so refreshing to hear. I'm really sorry your mental health has suffered and you have found things difficult but it's brilliant that you are clearly so valued they have thought about how to support you and (for their benefit of course) keep you! Take a big deep breath, draw a line under it all and just go for it, you have earned this opportunity. Best of luck OP.

That’s good news, will you be working for the same manager?

Different manager but one I know so I'm not worried. It's honestly perfect, I was starting to psych myself up to look for another job but the idea of being somewhere new and probably starting a new job WFH was giving me the fear a bit. This is something I already know just a sideways step. And my manager has said the door is never close, if in the future I want to return I'm welcome to go for any vacancies, it's not as if I didn't do well so I'm banished.

My DS (10) said to me today "if a flower is wilting, you don't change the flower, you change the environment." Floored me.

Go full bloom OP. FlowersFlowersFlowers
