What multi vitamin do you give your toddlers?

I can only find gummies and there's no way he will eat those. Is there any drops? I can't find any for a 2 year old!

I've never heard of these. I never gave ds any. Surely a balanced diet covers everything they need?

I've got Nature's Aid drops from Amazon. Abidec also do drops.

We use Vitabiotics Wellbaby, it's a multi vitamin in a liquid and you can add it to milk. DS actually prefers milk with it in now, and can tell when we've run out!

@starbrightstarlight8888 everyone in the UK should take a vitamin D supplement, including babies and toddlers unless they're formula fed.

Yes we also did wellbaby. Only one I could find that had iron in it too (or it did when I used it a year or so ago).

The NHS website says that in the UK we get enough vit D from sunlight from March to October. Vit D is in foods so it can be obtained through food for the winter months.

This is the actual specific NHS advice for children in England:

The government recommends all children aged 6 months to 5 years are given vitamin supplements containing vitamins A, C and D every day.

Babies who are having more than 500ml (about a pint) of infant formula a day should not be given vitamin supplements. This is because formula is fortified with vitamins A, C and D and other nutrients.

Babies who are being breastfed should be given a daily vitamin D supplement from birth, whether or not you're taking a supplement containing vitamin D yourself.

Does he need vitamins or is this a new thing that people do? I never gave mine any, they ate very well and a good variety of food.

@starbrightstarlight8888 PHE advise that it's hard to get enough vitamin D through your diet during the winter months. Also if you don't get a lot of sunlight in the summer e.g. because of your job, skin colour or covering up a lot you may also want to consider a supplement in those months too. www.gov.uk/government/news/phe-publishes-new-advice-on-vitamin-d

This is the link I looked at. It says what I said above. I've not made up anything. I don't know anyone that has given babies or toddlers multivitamins so just wondered where it came from.

Your health visitor should have the ABD drops for under 5s.

We lived in the ME when ds was infant, and even there we were told to give Vit d drops - despite the 12hrs of sunshine a day all year round.

I give ds (now 5yo) a gummy multivitamin every day, as his diet is appalling.

We also use the Wellbaby liquid. It can either be mixed in a drink (we put it in bedtime milk) or taken off the spoon if they are a bit older.

We use Haliborange liquid - can be a bit hard to track down, but it's on the Boots website. A spoonful of nice orange tasting liquid and job's done (at least DS thinks it's nice - tastes artificial to me!).

I give my 2 year old a Haliborange Omega-3 & Multivitamin Softies. I’m surprised your toddler wouldn’t take a gummy, I told my daughter it was a sweet and she reminds me everyday she needs her vitamin sweetie!

MrsCaptainJakeBallard · 10/05/2021 17:15

I give dd 3 a gummy on too and she loves it because she thinks it's a sweet. Can't imagine what the nursery must think though if she tells them I give her sweets at breakfast time!

Abidec, it's raspberry flavoured and goes in milk. My toddlers favourite part of breakfast! It's not cheap though.

@starbrightstarlight8888 if you scroll down your link, you will see the recommendation for children.

I have to take Vit D (dr, blood tests etc) because of my skin colour. I really feel the difference though!
