Is this a positive lateral flow test - pic attached

Ds has had a cough for a couple of days, no temp or anything else. I called dr and they suggested a lateral flow test. We have done this, I've attached the first pic after 20 mins which is suggested then come back after an hour and it looks positive but it says only count results after 20 mins. I've attached both pics but has anyone had similar.

So the result is after 20 minutes... and it says count after 20 minutes? If so then its positive.

It does look positive. Take another if you're not sure but I reckon you should ask be isolating. Sorry. Flowers

Yes if that's the after 20 minutes photo then it's positive.

Op, your child is symptomatic, a doctor should never have suggested a lateral flow test since these are only for use to detect asymptomatic cases. Get ds booked in for a pcr test and ensure the household isolates until the test result is back.

Yes both are positive.

For what it's worth I've only ever had negative and even after a day they're still blank.

For that second line to appear at all I'd be inclined to say definitely positive.

@Namechangedforthistoday
We are isolating anyway. 119 also suggested the lateral flow test when I called them

I've taken the lateral
Flow test at same time and mine is completely negative (I've had both vaccines)

The Dr should not have suggested a lateral flow test as they are for people without symptoms.

Your household needs to isolate whilst your son has a PCR test.

Both those lateral flows look positive to me

A doctor told you to use a lateral flow test on a symptomatic child? For goodness sake.
If you have symptoms you and your household isolate and you get a PCR test.

And both those pictures look positive to me.

I do two tests a week and so does DH , occasionally they get left on the kitchen counter. I've never seen two lines like that, she needs a PCR

It looks positive but you shouldn't check after an hour as it can skew the results.

Take another one to be sure. Check it after 20 mins and then throw it away. Don't go back to it because as with pregnancy tests you can get a water line.

My LFT was negative when I had covid but I don't know anyone who's had a false positive

Yeap that's positive, he should now go for a PCR test and all household isolates until the result comes back

(They remind me of pregnancy tests too and the same rule holds - a line is a line, even if faint!)

Report
Floralchickens · 07/05/2021 10:16

Yes that’s positive- we’ve got used to doing the tests and we don’t see a faint line at all when we do them so get a PCR test done as soon as possible.

Hope you only get it mildly xx

Yes definitely positive we do tons at work and the clear ones really are clear just the top line showing it’s valid. Hopefully your little one won’t feel too poorly.
