I'm feeling very disillusioned with Labours stance on women's sex-based rights.

Something to put in your window or print out & give to canvassers... can't believe we are still having to make this point 🥲

Count Binface as first choice. I'm undecided about whether to cast my second vote. If I do, it would probably go to the Women's Equality Party. I know their view is that 'woman' is a gender identity, not an indicator of biological sex, but as Mandu Reid is not going to win I just want to indicate that women's rights do matter to me.

My local WEP candidate is a fine woman, so I will probably vote for her too. Not sure what to do about the list vote.

I've no idea who to vote for .... so watching this with interest.

I have no candidate that I actually want to win.

So Binface might be the natural home for a protest vote, but I'll cruise the booklet in case there's a preferable option.

In that case OP don't vote Green. At conference Sian took a vehement stance against the Green Party recognising women's rights as a protected characteristic in line with their other policies on disabled rights, black and other ethnic minorities etc. She said on twitter she was crying with relief when the motion was defeated.

Uh.....right.

I won't be voting Green locally.

We should message those we don't vote for & explain why.

Shaun Bailey. DH and I will both need to replace our cars under Sadiq's ULEZ extension scheme. DH has been unemployed for 18 months and we really can't afford to buy two new cars.

I just don't get how criticism of Labour on womens issues -which is valid- comes anywhere close to the problems with this corrupt government which gives out contracts to mates, is covering up who's subsidising the PM and which presided over so many thousands of deaths. That's not to mention Shaun Bailey's offensive remarks about teenage mothers and single parents, etc etc. I'm voting Lab our Libdem

@Tuesdaysintheazores totally agreed we need to get the Tories out! The mayoral election won't do that though will it?

No but it's a step in the right direction

Re: Shaun Bailey, I certainly won't vote for a sexist Tory who doesn't care about the environment 🤷🏻‍♀️

I honestly don't know what to do.

I debated spoiling the ballot or not voting but that doesn't feel right.

I would like to know the best candidate to get Khan out really, but there isn't one. I am not sure we need a Mayor of London - or at least the remit needs to get a lot smaller and they need to stop flinging money about.

So we just throw women's sex based rights under the bus?

I’m voting for Niko Omilana. Only one who talks sense tbh

Count Binface definitely has the best manifesto

Seriously though, I think it's a matter of priorities. Labour's stance on trans issues is not hugely relevant for the specific position of London mayor. It's going to be Khan or Bailey, who do you think will do better managing the very serious problems in this city?

I'm simply saying Shaun Bailey is vile and if you read some of his comments about women, religious groups, single mums, you will see what I mean. There's plenty of other candidates including a pro Europe one and someone from the womens equality party.

I need to look into it more but the Cons candidate was woeful on radio LBC a while back

It stuck out as bad

Report
Ostara212 · 04/05/2021 10:40

Does Shaun Bailey have a chance?

my main concern about him is whatever Khan wants to build, he seems to want to build more on top of that!

This. Except for me is Labour first, Green second.

I don't want to vote for any of them. Unfortunately I think we are in a better the devil you know scenario and Khan will slide back in due to voter apathy.

Tbf I think a lot of people like Khan. He does stand up for Londoners and he's popular

Report
Ostara212 · 04/05/2021 10:52

I actually like Khan too

it's the LTNs and unused cycle lanes that bother me the most.

Report
dreamingbohemian · 04/05/2021 11:09

I also like Khan. He genuinely loves the city, you might not agree with everything he does but he's not a corrupt lying hack like Boris or Bailey.

On traffic reduction -- Khan supports it but it's the individual boroughs who propose and implement LTNs, and polls show that more Londoners support them than oppose.
