It's sunny, therefore the neighbour has dusted off their stereo.

I've posted before. Just want a little rant.

Now the weather is nice my horrible next door neighbours have Heart FM on from 8am until they go to bed. Full blast and with the back door wide open.

They have some scummy friends round who enjoy shouting, while their children get in their 10 hours of screaming a day.

Any requests for quiet are met with laughter or "they're just kids".

I wish I could move / sit quietly in my garden.

I got neighbours that play music anytime of the year, annoying as hell when you work nights.

DH works nights but is luckily a deep sleeper and quite deaf 😂

For the first time in my life I'm looking forward to going to the office for a bit of peace and quiet.

Now I've come to sit in my bedroom at the front of the house, just to get away from it.

I think men can sleep through an earthquake, my ex was like that slept even when I hoovered round him.

For me I hardly sleep, and often get woken up by music.

I sympathise, that sounds horrendous ☹️

Same @vodkaredbullgirl. Today was my only day for a lie in and I was woken by their kid screaming and kicking the wall at 7am. DH slept soundly through it. I don't like lying in bed when he's on nights as I want to let him sleep without me fannying around next to him.

It's literally like I live in their house.

If I have to hear this new remix of Rasputin one more time I may lose my mind.

It is so selfish. I dont understand what people get out of it.

These are often the very people who are sensitive to others noise though. My horrible ex neighbours thought their very loud music all day until midnight, loud hot tub, shouting and parties were absolutely fine. But were upset when their neighbor cut his grass ...

Why can't you move?

My last place was in a terrace where the neighbours either side (and with quite different music tastes) would play their music loudly on sunny days. My garden was unusable because I was caught between the two stereos. It was bloody awful. And yes I did ask for it to be turned down, but it would only last a day or two.

It's not financially possible for us to move.

We've only been here 2 years and , despite the walls being made of tissue paper, I love my house. The neighbours in question moved in last summer and have made our lives hell since. We've looked at soundproofing but that doesn't stop the garden noise.

It's just not fair.

My neighbours at the back of the house (who rent and owners haven't been able to get rid of due to covid) blaring out music all day, not even good music either., nothing better when you have your weekend off and want a bit of peace..the neighbours at the front have unleashed their 4 kids onto the trampoline...trust me that trampoline owes them nothing, never off the bloody thing and screaming all day, woe is me becoming more intolerant every day, since when did people just not give a shit?

Look, sometimes there is no option but to go to the mattresses 🤷‍♀️

If they're playing music 10am-8pm you're just going to have to do some or all of the following:

  1. A noise complaint - can't see that getting far as it's 'allowed' to play shit music and disturb the peace

So

  1. Play classical music - like 4 Seasons on repeat as loudly as your music will go outside

Start with 8-10am plus 8-10pm

Play it on repeat - it's an hour long

They WILL complain - smile, wave cheerily

Plus have a water feature in the garden. Ambient noise, even low ones like water distract the ear

Plus have dampeners both sides of the garden. Basically trellis with a quick growing Ivy.

Sit in the furthest part of the garden - sometimes sound goes in a weird way and may 'blow' across in front of you but not ON you

After a few days of you being a fuck-bastard and playing classical maybe this wank-cocksuckers will agree for you BOTH not to play music in the garden

(And as for the 7am kid kicking the wall - again not much you can do but you could move rooms - it's no fun having kids in the room next to you - they're noisy at that age and can be worse with their tv/computer games when they're older.
So move rooms - and then when you have kids you put them in the room next door - so both kids that annoy the tits off each other)

@LaurieFairyCake great suggestions 😂😂 I needed that today!

I get that there's a certain amount of live and let live with terrace living, but they just take the piss.

We have a neighbour who stays indoors all day. But they leave shit radio on all day for their horse - goes off at 5pm. Meanwhile our other neighbour has taken to playing different shit radio all day too as he's just retired and is redoing their whole garden. Our final neighbour is 80 and spends his days angle-grinding. Love living in the countryside Hmm

Unbelievably selfish.

Used to live on an estate and as soon as the sun would come out it would be like a race as to who could play their music quickest at full volume. Add in screaming kids on trampolines, barbecues, inflatable swimming pools and those lazy-spas bubbling away and it was actually like hell. We moved.

Why people think others want to listen to their music choices is beyond me. Either listen through earphones or play it quietly so only you and/or members of your household can hear it!

Thebookswereherfriends · 18/04/2021 19:35

Play classic fm at high volume as soon as they put on heart fm, or opera, anything which is completely opposing to bland pop. If they complain then you can come to an agreement!

@InFiveMins couldn't agree more. We like to have a drink and a chat in the garden after work, and on the rare occasion we play music we have the speaker on very low right next to us, rather than blaring from the house.

We're having family round next Sunday for DH's birthday (grandparents included so it's hardly a wild party) and I just know we'll be sitting listening to their shit all afternoon.

The only saving grace with them is that it's never late at night due to aforementioned children who enjoy shouting.

@JorisBonson it's awful, isn't it? I think some people just have no awareness of how their music affects others - they aren't bothered by other people's music so why should theirs be an issue? Only it is an issue, it makes people's lives a misery. I don't have a problem with it if it's on low, that's fine, but it's the blasting out that does my head in. Sometimes I think you just have to fight fire with fire. Time for Rammstein.

We have similar neighbours, utter arseholes. Stereos in gardens will be outlawed the day I'm put in charge.
