My child is positive Covid. Got from secondary school. He has two brothers so they’ve all been told to self isolate too as his contacts.
They’re all ‘young’ 11 year olds and fight, there’s no way they can all be left home alone for the next 10 days of required isolation.
I’m going to have to take 10 days off work to look after them as I can’t work from home with this sort of job.
I’m on minimum wage, and only work around 8 hours a week
(it’s like a zero hours contract they give you 8 hours minimum
but sometimes you can work up to 12/28/40 as and when they require you to).
I’ve only just come off furlough and been back at work since 12th April.
I’m married, husband self employed, he earns a pittance almost bankrupt, he’s not eligible for any more government self employed help.
Would I be entitled to sick pay if I only work 8 hours a week at min wage?
Not eligible for the ‘loss of income due to isolating as a contact’ grant either. Need to work more hours than I do.
Will I just keep losing 10 days pay every time one of my children has to contact isolate??
