Help- does anyone know when the JCB shut down will be next year?

Name changed for this. DH works at JCB (specifically Uttoxeter) and I want to book a holiday to celebrate his 30th birthday in the summer shutdown for next year . He only started there last year and he hasn’t checked the holidays for this year yet (we have no kids/no holidays booked plus I’m self employed so can take holidays as and when so hasn’t felt the urgency to check) but he seems to think they’re the last week in July plus first two weeks in august. But I don’t want to book anything until I know for sure and don’t want to give the game away by asking as we usually just book stuff very last minute!

Thanks 🚜

Why doesn’t he ask his boss rather than random people on the internet, otherwise you will get “Half past five on Tuesday” replies and you won’t know whether to believe them or not.

Because I’m asking, not him. As I said in the OP, I want to book something for him next year as a surprise but if I start asking him when the holidays are, especially this far in advance, he’ll know I’m planning on booking something and it’ll ruin the surprise. And as JCB is a massive UK employer I just thought I’d ask on here in case anyone knew!

But thanks

Can you phone reception and explain to them?

That’s a good idea, I might ring tomorrow morning and see what they say. Thanks :)

I only know this year the factory at Rocester is shut for summer break from the 12th to the 23rd July.

If it's anything like our factory shutdowns, they might not even know yet. Ours is "sometime in July" every year but the specific dates are usually only agreed in the first quarter of the year and are dependent on the availability of the (external) people to do the work required.

Why can’t you read the OP? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Contact HR, or Reception, but I believe it’s set in Q1 so they might not know yet, as a PP said.

You thought it a was good idea to ask randoms on the internet but hadn't thought of phoning someone at JCB direct!

The OP wasn't asking "randoms on the internet", she was asking anyone who might know (i.e. MNers who work for JCB).

Well this "random" has a mate who works at Rocester/Uttoxeter and could have asked him, except I dont need to as another "random" has already told the OP.

So maybe you want to dial it down on the sneering yeah?

Why not talk to him and say that you don't want to book last minute for next year, because you don't think there will be bargains or good value to be had as it will be the first year in three without Covid restrictions?
