Crest white strips

I know this has been done to death, but can any dental professionals recommend me if these are damaging to the teeth?

I used them 4 years ago and they were brilliant. V little sensitivity and the effects have lasted until now, when I could do with a top up.

In the meantime, my dentist has diagnosed me with thinning enamel, although not on the treated teeth at the front of my mouth. It's more prevalent towards the mid-to-back of my mouth.

So can I do another 4 yearly course of white strips?

Americans use them with no issues, and although our regulatory body is different in the UK surely teeth are quite a general structure/make up?!

Have looked on the Internet for advice BTW, but it's difficult to distinguish what's adverts and what's genuine info

It's the only home whitening product that works for me or anyone I have some sensitivity when I use the strips but the right toothpaste helps with that. I use them once or twice a year and my teeth seem OK.

I did about 20 strips two years ago and have had no issues reported from my dentist. Doing them again now and currently on strip number six Grin I love them and as @0blio says they actually work ! I’d tried all the toothpastes and ‘natural treatments’ under the sun to no avail but these have my teeth ( which have been through the wars with my love for red wine, black coffee —and cigarettes— ) looking great.

God, I love them. The most effective tooth whitening thing I've ever used. Where have you seen them? They used to be on EBay, but not anymore.

Mine asked me if I'd done some whitening, I admitted to white strips expecting a telling off, but she said they're perfectly fine, wasn't concerned at all

This is my question too!

I knew an American with perfect teeth who used to use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash and would be interested to if that’s safe!

I was a bit sensitive before using them and it's not any different. Can't bite an ice cream or watch someone else- but it's a small price to pay.

Used to do every 18 months now like OP every 4 years.

@mrsmorton - do you have any professional opinions? (From someone who uses prescribed Duraphat? But not for my front teeth!)

You can get them on UK Amazon so I guess not banned here for any harmful reason! Use the strips and combine with the toothpaste and they’re amazing. People always tell me I have perfect teeth. When I was a teenager I thought they were yellow and crap so they do a serious job!

I e used the crest supreme whitening strips for years and never had issues. My dentist was impressed when I told her about them.
They're amazing things

I can't imagine why it would cause an issue. Remember you can't "unwhiten" so don't kick the arse out of it and also remember, counterfeit medical products are one of the most common illegal trades so proceed with caution when choosing a supplier. I don't know why they're not licensed in the U.K. We do some odd things with our healthcare. But then so do the states.

I used them and got two holes in the enamel in my teeth, which my dentist said were due to them. :-(

Can you? I can’t see them?

Pbur if that's true then you need to find a new dentist. There's no mechanism by which the bleaching agent could cause a hole in your teeth. Unless you didn't actually get bleaching agent but then your gums would have awful chemical burns as well.

How long are they meant to be used for?

I have some but haven't got round to using them yet.

I use 1 every 6 months or so.
If your teeth are a bit yellow use once a week until you're happy with the colour

Do you need to have your teeth properly cleaned beforehand? As in, with no staining?
