Best water bottle for school?

KarmaViolet · 26/03/2021 11:35

Dull thread, sorry. DD has gone through two water bottles in a term - the school branded one's lid fell apart which is apparently a common problem with them and her Camelbak bottle is leaking. Any suggestions for a water bottle that won't leak or fall apart?

This has been the most reliable one we've had so far...

Another vote for sistema. But not from Amazon - we have 3, 2 from a supermarket and 1 from amazon. The amazon one doesn't work as well - I think it's a different manufacturer but same branding (particularly as the replacement they sent had the same issue).

I’d say get one with a flat bottom, the metal ones which are kind of fluted on the bottom get dropped and then the bottom dents and they just won’t stand up ever again. We had to hammer the bottom of my sons brand new bottle after he dropped it as it was so wobbly.

We’ve always been happy with Sistema. Those Contigo ones do like nice though Smile

The metal Caretta bottles, which I got on Amazon, are metal, haven't leaked and have different colours and different styles of lids - and some of the proceeds goes towards helping clear plastic in the sea!

Sistema are horrible to clean.

Chilly's here and we have been through pretty much every brand.

We like a Sho bottle, just like a Chilly, they give to charity and loads of designs to choose from. You can also buy a flip to straw. If you Google there is a 50% off voucher normally.

One green bottle. Ds went through 4 plastic bottles in 1 term, hasn't managed to destroy the one green bottle one since jan 2020 granted covid has meant that it hasn't had as much use as normal. They also sell replacements caps and straws so if they do get broken I don't need to buy the whole thing again.

And another reason to love the Caretta - am fed up of bottles that need that special washing up brush, you can use a normal washing up brush and get right in there!!

I second one green bottle. We got one for dd, when I think she was in nursery. That was 5 years ago. It's now ds's nursery water bottle, and still going strong. I also had a kleen kanteen bottle that lasted me 12+ years and was fantastic. Until I got drunk at a wine festival and lost it somewhere. Blush

Supermarket own brand - DD's is from lidl why spend more, they loose them (at one point I just took the label off a bottle of Evian and reused that

I found Contigo pretty indestructible - my DD goes through water bottles like you wouldn’t believe but the Contigo one has lasted a year so far, battered but working still and they’re pretty much leakproof.

The £2 asda ones are good and you can get a vinyl name sticker from amazon for less than £2 to stick on it.

Chilly or Manna. Everything else leaks. And if you dent them they send a replacement.

EduCated · 26/03/2021 16:30

Is it the lid of the Camelbak leaking? (I mean, presumably)

You can (or at least used to be able to) request a free replacement. I did this when mine started leaking around where the straw pops up.

We struggled with the complicated drinking spout opening issue of some bottles, so hard to clean properly and went manky, impossible to get to all the bits hygienically clean! Hence we went basic!

We got Sho bottles with their names on in the Black Friday sale. They are amazing and never leak.

I fill them with cold water and crushed ice in the morning and there is still ice left in them by the evening.

Yeti cup. Completely leakproof and super insulated. Dishwasher safe. They're expensive but DS has had his for three years now and I expect it to last him many more years.

Contigo as pp said. I bought 2 about 3/4 years ago and they are still going strong after alternating every day use. They don’t leak and there’s no straw and you can drink one handed.

Contigo. Completely worth the extra cost. They are indestructible and simple to use
