(15 Posts)I'm fortunate enough to go on walks alone mon-fri usually do 4-6 miles at a time.During that time I listen to comedy podcasts,I'm not a mum or wife during this time I'm just me zooming along do you enjoy walking for the same reasons?
I love walking alone too but never listen to music etc - I love the peace and quiet and just listening to nature. (I do have 4 dc’s at home though so I need that quiet time!)
Yes! Any recommendations of podcasts? I like Katherine Ryan's and Louis theroux
@trevthecat I'm listening to the Ricky gervais/Steve merchant/Karl pilkington ones atm found on YouTube
Yes. I wish I could get out more.
@BeautifulStar I've only got one dc so I'm in a quieter house
Yep! I am hugely missing my commute to work (15 min walk, 5 min train, 15 min walk) so head out for some much needed time of not being “mummy, mummy, MUMMY”.
Yes the main reason I love walking is the audiobooks I get to listen to! I listen to one podcast, but really I just love getting into a good book. Pure escapism and it keeps me healthy. Giving my head the space it needs really helps me!
I love walking alone with my earphones too, and i always have. Even as a teenager when MP3 players were just new I used to love walking home from school listening to the same 30 songs every day!
I discovered podcasts about 3 years ago when on maternity leave with my eldest (Serial, S Town, My Favourite Murder, Dad Wrote A Porno) and i've been hooked ever since. I love just losing myself in a podcast or a playlist and walking for miles!
Very envious! I love walking but can't get out as much as I would like. Before lock down I'd go hiking with friends. During the day I squeeze an hour in before nursery pick up. Decided to get lo early last week, thought I'd take him on his scooter for a quick stomp round park. Was really hard work, will be sticking to solitary walks from now on 🤣

Shagged Married Annoyed is my favourite chatty one at the moment
I like You're Dead To Me which is about history.
I've got a few news based ones like Newscast, Americast and For The Many that are a lot less rage inducing than TV news in my experience.
I mentioned a few more episodic ones upthread where there is a single story that unfolds, the best of which was S Town.
I absolutely love to walk and either just soak up nature or sometimes listen to music. But I have injured my feet and cannot walk for possibly months 😔 I can't believe I didn't appreciate it more when I was able. Keep enjoying your time out!
I was walking on the canal but there have been a few attacks lately which has put me off going. (Live in a low crime area).
If you wear earphones, please keep your wits about you.
I love walking but my city and surrounding areas aren't nice to walk around. Pre restrictions we would always catch a bus or train to the outer villages and do a circular walk but its been horrible being stuck in a small area.
Im a mum and a wife and have been for 19 year. That doesn’t stop me doing much. I love walking alone listening to music. I do mountains and quarries. Being alone there doesn’t bother me and i cant see why it would.
I’ll go for an hour at night with my friend. Is 30 mins down to hers with my torch then we walk 30-40 mins together or vice versa. I hate walking with DH. He’s so slow and i dint get anything from walking that slow.
On a weekend i go for 7-10 miles, either alone or with my friend. Last week we did 4 mountains from my doorstep. We’re very lucky
