What have you done so far in lockdown half-term?

Apologies if it is not half-term this week where you are.
Maybe we could inspire each other with ideas of how we have killed time/ entertained our DC, or just share our despair at things we have tried that haven't worked out or that our DC have spent all day in their pyjamas in front of screens.

Yesterday I worked a 13hr shift, DC were at home with DH. To my surprise, they had got dressed and left the house. That doesn't normally happen when I go to work and it was below freezing here. They went to the park. They also had a movie night and were still downstairs not ready for bed when I got home at 9.30pm (they are 6 and 9).

Today they spent all morning watching tv/ DC1 watched stuff and played games on her ipod while I unsuccessfully attempted to tidy the kitchen. They have not got dressed. This afternoon DC2 and I played half a game of Junior Monopoly before she got fed up, then, inspired by a challenge pack sent by DC2's Rainbow leader, they decided to make Mardi Gras masks. These turned into glittery cat masks and involved getting out all the craft items, making a huge mess and using excessive amounts of glue and glitter. Then DC2 finished painting a cat money box she started months ago and DC1 found a crystal growing set which involved about 5 minutes of activity that you leave for about 5 days before anything happens. They are now eating ice lollies and watching Bluey. I don't expect to persuade them to do anything else productive today.

I baked brownies for me yesterday. Daughter and I made Rocky road for her cousin. We’ve played board games, she’s played Minecraft. We’ve been into a local town to deliver Rocky road. she’s FaceTimed friends. We’ve been for a walk. I’ve had a nap.

Nothing much yesterday - finished off school work, went to the playground, DH did the big food shop.

Today DS1 and I made valentines day cards and he's gone off to grandparents (in our support bubble) to make dens in the woods and hopefully sleepover. DH are taking it in turns to do a big clean while the other one plays with the baby. Then we are going to have an M&S dine in for two romantic meal (with the baby).

Screens (playing online with school friends) and late nights so far.
Of course, the rest of the week will involve doing times tables rockstars, reading, reasonably early nights and getting lovely fresh air (yeah right).

It is miserably cold here, I've found that bringing a travel mug of hot chocolate on walks boosts morale (& the promise of a hot bath on return).

Movie with snacks, board game night, you vs wild (bear grylls thing on Netflix that’s like a choose your own adventure book).
Next week will be excessive screens while I work Sad interspersed with occasional walks/ roller skating unless anyone has any brilliant ideas on here!

We had a Chinese banquet on Friday night to celebrate Chinese New Year. DC made decorations.
Yesterday we went out in the fields for about 4 hours and the dc went ice-skating on the ponds (shallow). It was bitterly cold. They watched TV and did some gaming most of the rest of the day although we also played cards and Yahtzee.
Today they are all really stiff from the ice-skating and can barely move. They've all done some woodwork with DH ( no idea why that became a thing). DD1 and I have done a workout. We've just finished a massive roast beef dinner with syrup sponge and custard for pudding. Fire is lit and we are now watching Avatar (an anime series). Will probably play a game and I'm going for a run once my dinner has digested.
Exciting times so far!

So far I have....
Cooked
Cooked
Cooked some more.
Freaked out over the broken bath.
Freaked out over the flood in the house.
Was happy hubby fixed it.
And very happy we didn't have to fork out for a plumber or an electrician after my dh resolved the issue...

Played with playdoh with the younger 4 of 5
Breastfed the newborn.
Organised new rugs, lego and shopkins sets on ebay.
Meal planning for the week ahead and looking forward to my new rugs coming tomorrow.

This week coming, I hope we can do more things
Monopoly, battle lands royale, scrabble. Play with the lego and shopkins sets, have some nice snacks and food together. Also have movie nights.

I also recommend watching The Carpet bagger on YouTube. (Jacob the carpet bagger) if you are seriously missing days out etc. We love museums and attractions and he films them on his YouTube channel with a twist. Fun for all the family. We have 5 days out a day watching him going to Disney land and museums from the comfort of our lounge lol.

Yesterday we visited MIL to discuss FILs funeral arrangements. Kids haven't seen her in forever so it was actually nice as well as sad. Today I had to work, DH took them out for a walk to find puddles that were still frozen so they could break the ice. Aside from that, we're all exhausted, the weather is shit and everything is closed, I'm embracing screens and pjs to a large extent.

Yesterday we re-arranged the furniture in her room and I went to wilko to buy paint ready for painting one of the walls bright white then letting DD (6yo) paint a mural on it one day this coming week.

Tomorrow will be sanding and washing the wall down, putting a coat of white on and probably a trip to the park. She'll paint her tree and flowers on the next drizzly day.

Rest will be weather dependant but parks will feature heavily along with baking, possibly cinnamon rolls or just basic cookies/cupcakes.

She's enjoying proper cooking so might sit her down with a load of veg to chop up and make soup, casserole or pie.

Yesterday and today have been pretty similar - lounge around in the morning followed by long bitterly cold walks with lots of ice breaking. Come home, lounge around some more before DS goes to bed.

We did some slime experiments this morning and I’m trying to get him to build his Harry Potter Lego with me but he’s not interested.

Can’t wait for the temps to pick up this week.

Walked down beach yesterday in ridiculous cold temperatures and wind. Not sure what possessed me HmmGrin

Dropped into B and M on way home for cleaning products but ended up not getting the other few bits I needed as every time I stopped I was being forced along by families on a shopping trip who clearly needed to be in the same space as me at exactly the same time (reminded me why I haven't been since lockdown started!)

Ds and I then watched a film and I made burgers for dinner.

Today we were planning to walk again but it kept raining so decided against it Blush

I went to Aldi whilst ds watched a film that didn't interest me and ds and I did the housework.

Ds then helped his best mate with some maths online which he always does as his mate has to retake.

Now cooking a roast and we will then probably play cards or something and I'm looking foreword to Finding Alice later.

They went to their dad's yesterday afternoon and I slept, vegged and ate.

Today we have done zoom church and zoom quiz while D's played on his phone, D's is now minecrafting DD has done some dancing and played on phone. I am tidying the kitchen in little bits. Put 18 tins of beans at the bottom back of cupboard to work our way through until the next time they are on offer in about 6 months time, checked the dates on the other tins in there, put this year dates ones in a more accessible place and generally tidied the kitchen a bit. Going to hoover the kitchen then make pancakes.

We only get 3 days and it doesn't start till Wednesday.

Husband and I are hoping to be able to get some work done without having to homeschool.

Planning to let mine have lie ins and then veg in front of the TV/XBox/Tablet etc for the duration. If they turn evil will drag them out for a walk in the rain.

Indoors bit of baking, bit of craft, some Lego and quite a lot of bickering.

Oh and thrown strops about going out...

Fed everyone, cleared up, argued about screens, made more food, more clearing up, cut son's hair, hoovered. No one wants to go outside. I can't be arsed to argue wjth everyone over every tiny thing. I must try harder. I also hate board games.

No snow here in Devon. I did some housework yesterday and have been bone idle today. Let the DC 13 and 10 stuff sweets and stay up very late last night. Have barely seen the 13 year old today but had a chilled time on the sofa with the 10 year old having a 'pamper day'. Looking forward to a week off from frantic work. Will be hell from after half term until end of April (year end). Next week will be inflatable hot tub and a few walks with friends when the weather isn't too bad. Roller skating for the kids if dry. Probably get the bikes out.

I’m not counting it as half term until tomorrow! It’s only the weekend at the moment. So we’ve spent the weekend doing our normal stuff, playing some games, catching up on the washing, changing the bedding etc. Ds and dh watched crocodile Dundee last night.
Dh will be out at work all week, the dc and I will be going out for wet weather walks and coming home to warm up again. Dull. However, I’m glad for the break from work so I won’t complain!

We had a film night on Fri and a board games night last night.

Other than that dp and I have had the pleasure of taking up floorboards to find and fix a burst pipe while the dc spend many hours on minecraft and watching you tube videos.

We did "Chinese New Year" dinner and made our own decorations, did Ballentine's card making and crafts ....

Visit to our communal gardens yesterday as it was quiet...

Jigsaws, Lego and video calls to family today... about to have a family Valentine's dinner....

Got very little scheduled this coming week as I've just been so utterly battered and DP "forgot" to book any holiday days next week as planned so just another week of controlled chaos ahead and I won't get my never ending to do list done 😡🙄

In reality it's going to most likely to be lightweight homeschool just to maintain routines here for D.C. with a focus on play and stuff

DC are 6 & 10.

This weekend we've made pizzas together, had a skid around on the local frozen pond, delivered valentines cards, tidied bedrooms, watched a film, done some drawing, played monopoly. They managed to entertain themselves by playing together without falling out for a bit, so dh and I could put up some curtains. Win.

I think the rest of the week will be more of the same. Walks, park if I can stand it, baking, films, board games, maybe some zoom calls with friends? I might be able to persuade them to work towards a cubs or beavers badge if I sell it right.
