Reasons why your toddler is strange LIGHT-HEARTED!

My 14m daughter is strange. Her favourite "toys" are:

Her red wellies. Carries them through to whatever room she's in.
A set of 8 paper straws. She picks them up, tries to hold them all in one hand, walks around showing you her "soooors".

She also bops her head in the patio door glass, giggles and dies it again.

😁😂

Why is your kid strange??

My dd's favourite 'toys' when she was little was crisp packets- no amount of crinkly expensive toys would do, it had to be an actual empty packet, and the remote control. She used to take it to bed. Many's the time we would settle down to watch tv when she was asleep to find we couldn't turn it on. Then having to prize it out of her sticky little hand or once it was inside her grobag! Stealthy unzipping. 😬

My DD likes carrying the plastic cat bowls around. And a wooden mixing spoon. She has lots of proper toys but these are her favourite bits ever.

Oh yes, DD loves a mixing spoon too!

When ds (3) was a year old his fave toy was a roll of sellotape.
Dd (1.5) is best friends with the tub of lurpak, she holds it at meal times and cries when it has to go back in the fridge

My two year old is... ‘eccentric’ 😂 He’s taken to stroking me and saying ‘I know sweetie, I know’ in a patronising tone. His favourite snack is a tube of tomato purée. When he wants my attention or is overtired he pretends to be a frog. That frog is a total arse. He knows the names of more sea creatures than most adults and can tell you facts about them. Earlier today he was running around the house with a dinosaur on a lead referring to himself as ‘the doctor’ in the third person and narrating his actions. He quite often sings instead of talking. He is obsessed with wearing DH’s glasses.

DD 13 months loves an Urdu phrasebook and cold damp flannels.

My two year old was ruined between birthday and Christmas and arrival of sibling.

Yet she carries round a pair of novelty socks in a pretend beer can like its all she has.

Also Collins Guides are his favourite books 😂

When my middle daughter was about 3 she used to go into the kitchen and bring the head of broccoli though to the living room. She would then sit and stroke it going "awwwww fluffy".

My DD when she’s being naughty and I’m telling her off shouts at me “2 minutes” to put me in time out. The dirtier and stickier she gets, the happier she is. Her twin brother hates mess and dirt, and is happiest when he’s doing housework and anything helpful. He’s utterly thrilled when the toys have all been tidied away and it’s “all clean!”.

DS is pretty obsessed that I’m going to eat him, and DD is terrified of the giants from frozen and believes they’re coming to get us at night time.

My kids are weird.

Same. DD will take a damp flannel, chew on it and walk around with it hanging out of her mouth 🤦‍♀️

My two year old puts the nose of her Mrs Potatohead below the mouth. And goes mad if we try to put them the right way round... 🤷🏻‍♀️

My two year old granddaughter was broken hearted the other day because I didn't want a bag of crisps. She had a packet, which you think would be the important bit, but apparently I ruined it because I didn't want a packet too Grin

My 14 month old’s favourite thing to watch is crash test videos. Particularly the ones which test pedestrian alert systems. The ones which don’t work and therefore show a dummy flying over the bonnet of a car in bits are hilarious. Hmm

DH really shouldn’t have left YouTube running on car safety reviews whilst playing with her!

My sons favourite toy was a kids dustpan and brush. The one with a long handle. It had to go everywhere with us!

Also a foam doorstop. The ones in a C shape you put on top of the door to stop it closing. I drew an eye on one so it looked a bit like pac-man and he slept with it every night and called it Johnathan 🤷🏻‍♀️

My two year old's favourite book for a long time was a holiday guidebook to Mexico and once went to sleep cuddling a fully inflated balloon.

My 2 year old insists on 'feeding' her scuttlebug as hes apparently so hungry and loves toast, at bedtime she kisses it and puts a blanket on it and tells it thank you for playing with me today!

My 18 month old likes to sit and watch her reflection in the side of the bin and laugh. Also she is reduced to absolute hysterics if she stands with her back against the living room door and we throw her bouncy ball above her head to bounce off the door. And her favourite hobby is taking things out of the bathroom cabinet and throwing them over the stair gate down the stairs.... yes she is a total little nutter Grin

Why ds was a toddler his absolutely favourite thing in the world was a tin of Heinz beans in a carrier bag. He used to carry it everywhere. He wanted to sleep with it but obviously I wasn’t going to let him sleep with a plastic bag so we had to hang it up on a hook on the wall so he could fall asleep looking at it 😂

DS is obsessed with a small pink pompom he brought home from nursery about 4 months ago. He has to have it with him, or within sight at all times and tucks it into 'bed', a small duplo drawer, every night

When DS was about 2 we were on holiday and had been to a farm shop for food. He was so taken with a potato, carried it around for days and we felt too guilty to eat it!

He's nearly 5 now and loves the tape measure.
