(44 Posts)I measured my thighs today as I felt that they were getting even more chunky than usual. They’ve always been the part of my body I like least and now my right thigh is measuring 24” and my left is 23”! Is it usual to have one bigger than the other? My jeans still fit but are a bit tighter than normal and I’m worried about chafing when it gets warmer and I start wearing dresses again.
I did start couch to 5k but have had to give up as I injured myself but I really need to up my exercise and lose about a stone in weight. I might have to get the bike out ...
Well now you've prompted me to measure them mine are also 23" on the left and 24" on the right! That was measured round the top close to my groin so the widest part. It's also my biggest area but I do lift weights (when the gym is open!) and run so i don't think they're ever going to be skinny. I've never had issues with chafing. It might depend how tall you are though, if you're 4ft 10 you'd be quite out of proportion!
I've just measured. One is 18 inches and the other is 19 inches. Our bodies aren't symmetrical usually so it makes sense to me that there'd be a difference.
Btw I'm underweight and trying to gain (BMI 16.7) yet it doesn't sound like a huge difference in size between my thighs and yours op. I can't imagine chafing will be an issue for you, unless you're quite short maybe.
@emmathedilemma - you’re my thigh twin! I’m 5’3” so on the small side but I don’t think I’m out of proportion.
@BaggoMcoys - oh I’d love your thighs! I think those inches make quite a difference. Good to hear it’s not unusual for then to be different sizes though. I think I need to tone up more than anything.
Honestly inastatus it's not as good as you might think. When I was a healthier weight I thought my thighs were huge but now I actually prefer them how they used to be. I know we all want what we don't have. It's far less attractive to have spindly legs though - in my opinion (and that of my ex!).
Fucking massive.
I do not dare measure! Roll on the end of lockdown! Can’t wait to get active again
I think it's normal for the thigh on your dominant leg to be bigger than the other.
AledsiPad
Beat me to it 😂
Mine 1in different too. That’s normal.
Most people are slightly asymmetrical and it will normally be your dominant side that is bigger/more pronounced.
Thanks everyone, I’m pleased I’m normal!
@BaggoMcoys - you’re right, we are generally never happy with what we have!
Mine are 26inches at the thickest part. Im 5'4 and a size 16. Im certainly bottom heavy but Im not concerned that I may have abnormally large thighs.
@redheadwitch - yes, I’m very pear-shaped too with wide hips and narrower top. I think it was more the one inch difference that I thought was abnormal but clearly not from the replies I’ve had.
I’m not anywhere near overweight and mine are 26 inches at 5’7. (My waist is only 2 inches bigger )
I’m well aware I have large thighs - I do heavy weight training - but I don’t see it as a bad thing! Do some weight training and tone yours up!
20 inches even each side....that's 2 inches bigger than they used to be, from weightlifting.....I'm 5'3 and a healthy weight at 54kgs

Ooh Sciics, your figure sounds fab, you are what I aspire to be
19 and 20 inches. 5 feet 10.5 inches. Weight about 10 stone I think but it’s a long time since I was on a scale.
Thighs Flabby as hell though as I don’t exercise apart from walking dog
My right thigh is 21 inches and my left thigh is 20.5 inches. I used to have a one inch difference m but doing unilateral weightraining exercises (lunges, squats) has evened things out. I'm 5 ft 5, weigh 9.5 stones, and weight train, at home at the moment.
I don't even dare measure mine. I'm not sure why but I'm always the most paranoid about my thighs and them getting chunky. Normally I have a little gap inbetween them so I know when I've gained as they start to touch. Currently touching now at 20 weeks pregnant so they are feeling massive to me!
Curiosity got the better of me and I just went and measured! Both are 22 inches, which makes me feel bit better actually as maybe it's more my hips widening for pregnancy that's making me feel like they are huge!

Me too! I’m 5ft 3 and my thighs are 23.5 and 24 inches.
I’ve just started SW as I want to lose 20lbs
Mine are both 20, I'm 5ft 4" and weigh 48 kgs, I look like a bloody twig
