Any plans for half term?

Slightly tongue in cheek because we are so restricted but what is everyone planning to do to fill the week?

I'm off work which makes it easier but need some ideas so DD doesn't end up watching hours of tv Blush

We are going to:

  • attempt making bath bombs
  • tie-dye T-shirts
  • rebuild DS1s Lego Boost into a different robot
  • have a lounge sleepover/movie night with pizza & popcorn
  • have a family bake-off

We had an idea to try and do some ‘theme’ days, in a v lazy way eg American day we’ll play bowling on the wii, make burgers, watch a film etc. Otherwise every day is just going to be the same (like now)

I booked dentist appointments for the kids and that will involve me having to go twice as they won't let them wait...but it's an outing on 2 days.

Hubby had kindly taken time off work so now instead of trying to entertain 3 I have to entertain 4 kids! The other 3 are easier...

I like the idea of a theme day, maybe I could persuade DH to get the bbq out so we can crank up the heating and have an Australian day Grin

Lots of walks and trips to the parks. We go to our local 3 parks on rotation and we live 2 minutes from the beach so will wrap up and walk along there. Luckily my sister and I both have children under 4 so we can walk as a four.

Some school work in the mornings then lazy afternoons with parks and walks thrown in.

I'm not working over half term so some painting, some telly time, some baking. The usual. My eldest hates the cold SO much so long walks are out

Getting the car MOTd
Ordering a skip and clearing the garden - we got rid of the trampoline and large garden swing/slide set and dug a pond during last lockdown but there's lots of tiding left todo and concrete slabs to get rid of ready to do something else in Spring when no doubt we'll still be at home alot.

Making a den
Get them to choose a few things to bake
Board game marathon
Home cinema afternoon (might have to do this more than once!)
Taking scooter out/to the park/pokemon go
Something crafty - maybe making a volcano or pop rocket, paint by numbers or painting contest
Hide and seek/hot and cold hide the object
Video games
Lots of jigsaws

It's basically the usual stuff under different names or with a different name. Watching a film is boring but home cinema is the best apparently! Also, another favourite is lunch in front of the TV. Sometimes kids are easily pleased!

Deep cleaning and the usual admin tasks. DC will do baking, crafting - will add some tie dye shirts to this I think, sounds like a fun idea! Also, it is Pancake Day on the Tuesday, so definitely some pancake related activities...🥞

Will be working as usual but DCs will be able to do their school work in their own time rather than school timetable. They might meet friends one at a time. Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. Not a lot else TBH.

Hopefully a few long walks, maybe bike ride if it'swarmed up a bit. We don't have time in the week with schoolwork for more than an hour. Unless we were to go in the evening.
Pancakes, lego, puzzles, baking, crafts. We got some really nice little sets from hobbycraft at Christmas, stained glass window painting and wooden threading were hits, cross stitch no so much.

Chinese cooking workshop on zoom one day, Valentines baking, pancake day, bit of school work each morning,
each afternoon park, making outfits for dolls/paper dolls, diamond art, working on guide badge, tidying out toy cupboard, discovering things they haven’t used yet, bits of tv, bits of Switch, music practice, Lego. Pamper morning etc- seems like plenty! Hiring a teepee one night for a special camping night.

Park trips, doing a quiz on the Sunday and zoom 'birthday party' for my Mum, pancakes on pancake day , getting a graze box delivered Saturday so might eat that while watching a film.

@TwoZeroTwoZero happy birthday for next week 🎉

Mine is the week after so I've tasked DH & DD to bake me a cake at some point 🎂

I'm definitely going to steal some of these ideas, thank you. I hadn't clocked it was pancake day so I'm pleased that'll give us something edible to look forward to 🥞

I'm working out of the home and DS is attending holiday club for 3 days and is with my mum the other 2 days. He's also with his dad this weekend.

We have a tradition that on the first evening of the holidays we order dessert from a local dessert shop - waffles, cookie dough, milkshakes - I'm looking forward to that!
