Shoeless house- can you recommend slippers that don’t feel like slippers

We’ve never been a shoeless house but during lockdown in March the dc stopped wearing shoes altogether and now only wear them outside the house. Dh has taken to wearing slippers inside and now I’m the only one trailing who knows what across the floors.

I hate being shoeless. I’ve never liked the feel of slippers. My favourite footwear are lace up boots.

Can anyone recommend a slipper that feels like a shoe but looks like a slipper (so I don’t just wear it outside when I’m feeling lazy)

Buy shoes for indoors only?

Toms. My Toms slippers feel so much like shoes I have worn them to do the school run by accident. Twice!

Specifically the Toms “India” slippers, not the backless ones

I was going to say just buy a pair of shoes for wearing indoors. Something slip-on so you don't need to faff around with laces as you get out of bed. Soft leather moccasins might be supportive enough, and do tend to look like slippers.

I tried that and then forgot and wore them outside.

Just buy some shoes you like and don't wear them outside. Job done.

If you like lace ups, how about proper soft sole, or split sole, laced, jazz shoes?

They might work. 🤣 at the idea of finding yourself on the school run in them. That’s definitely the kind of thing I’d do.

Crocs. I started wearing them in an ironic way cos they're so cringe and now I just can't be without them. They're too embarrassing to wear outside so I never go out accidentally in them.

I have a pair of old loafers I use for this. They are fugly so I tend not to accidentally wear them outside but they are great as slippers in my little house which has the coldest floors but I like to walk briskly and slouchy slippers don't help that. 😁

I think just try harder at not wearing them outside. Or buy them in a colour you hate.

Faerysmoke I agree - Crocs, whilst hideous and not for wearing in public, are the best for home. I even got a fleece lined pair for the winter which are wonderful!

Birkenstock clogs are good-they are v comfortable and feel like shoes but I wouldn’t wear them outside with socks and jeans.

Geisswein slippers are amazing, I have the Vent and they are definitely like shoes but so comfortable. They're not cheap but well worth the money.

I have a pair of ASDA copy-skechers that I wear as slippers. Very comfortable and stay on reliably. I'm not tempted to wear them outside unless it's very clean and dry out there.

I absolutely do wear my slippers and jammies outside when the dc fall while out playing, or when dc 3 decides he won't walk the 20 metres to school with his bigger dsis two mins before bell time when his dt was off sick.

I've got 6 pairs of slippers, uggs, coolers, padders, skechers, pavers and some other gig style kind I can't think of.

I wasn't a fan of slippers until I got these

Another vote for Mahabis. Mine have a proper sole on them and feel nice and solid. I did once accidentally wear them to Sainsbury's because they don't feel like slippers so forgot to change into my shoes before I left the house Grin
